Event 44 - Final Table - Mouritsen Spewing!
We've seen some serious action in the last level. We've lost one player and seen a huge upset in the chip counts. We try to refrain from criticizing players but it's hard to see the logic in much of what Rene Mouritsen has done in the last hour.
Read on for the elimination, the big hands and the updated counts.
All About Greenwood
Here's a look at the new counts, courtesy of www.worldseriesofpoker.com.
| Max Greenwood | $2,692,000 |
| Albert Iversen | $2,541,000 |
| Rene Mouritsen | $1,529,000 |
Greenwood on Rampage
Max Greenwood has taken control of this final table, exploiting Rene Mouritsen’s seeming willingness to put his chips in the pot with marginal hands. Greenwood’s just doubled up two more times to take the lead and leave Mouritsen in bad shape.
The first started when Mouritsen raised to $100,000 from the button and Greenwood moved all-in from the big blind. It was almost $600,000 more to Mouritsen but he made the call nonetheless with Q
T
. He was trailing Greenwood’s A
4
.
The board ran K
K
6
A
A
and Greenwood was good for the double.
Not long after Greenwood opened a pot to $100,000 from the small blind and Mouritsen moved all-in from the big. Greenwood made the call and turned over 9
9
. We saw Mouritsen had been caught with his hand in the figurative cookie jar as he tabled 8
7
.
The board ran with no improvement to either hand and Greenwood takes a big lead.
Greenwood Gets Lucky
Things were looking grim for Max Greenwood a moment ago as we saw him just inches away from elimination. The hand began with Albert Iversen opening from the button and Greenwood moved all-in from the small blind. Rene Mouritsen was in the big blind and made the call. Iversen got out of the way and the cards were tabled.
Greenwood: 5

Mouritsen: A

The flop was just what Mouritsen was looking for, coming A
8
3
, and the K
on the turn looked good too. Greenwood was praying for a miracle and apparently someone was listening as the 5
hit the river.
Freeman Morgan’d (Fourth)
Everyone had high hopes for Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman at this year’s WSOP. He’s a super-respected online tournament player and although he did make this final table he’ll have to settle for fourth. Freeman was relatively short and moved all-in over the top of a Rene Mouritsen button-raise.
Mouritsen snap-called and turned over A
K
which was in great shape against Scott’s A
7
. The flop was safe for Mouritsen, coming 8
6
2
, but the turn made him sweat, bringing the T
. Any diamond, nine or seven would save Freeman but the river was the T
.
Freeman takes fourth and $223,572.

Event 44 - Final Table - Four-Handed Play Continues
1 year ago
After seeing a rush of eliminations in the first two levels things have cooled off a bit. Our final four players have a few more chips to work with although Rene Mouritsen is still in the driver's seat with a monster stack.
Players have just headed off on a 20-minute break so take a moment and catch up with a bit of action from the last hour.
SCTrojans Doubles
Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman was getting short, with less than ten big blinds, but managed a much-needed double-up a few moments ago. Albert Iversen opened the pot to $71,000 and when action made it to Freeman he moved all-in. It was about $100,000 back to Iversen and after a short dwell he opted to call.
A
J
for Freeman was leading Iversen’s K
8
going to the flop. The board ran 7
3
2
Q
7
and Freeman’s ace-high is good for the double. He’s now on a little over $360,000.
Iversen Scores
Albert Iversen just took a small bite out of chip leader Rene Mouritsen’s stack. Action folded to Mouritsen in the small blind and he limped. Iversen popped it to $74,000 from the big blind and Mouritsen made the call.
The flop came down A
A
9
and both players checked. The turn was the 7
and Mouritsen checked again. Iversen bet out $100,000 and got a call. The river was the 5
and Mouritsen checked one last time. Iversen cut out chips and pushed $256,000 into the middle.
Mouritsen gave it some thought before releasing his hand and conceding the pot.
