Event 42 - Dan Lacourse - The Champion! 1 year ago

Wow, some people might have thought the old guys would play out the final table at a pedestrian pace, but its been full of fast, frenetic play, as we witnessed bustout after bustout all the way through.

This continued with the players three handed and after a short, fiery period we have our champion!

Here's how the play went down.

Fluss Bust!

Dan Lacourse limped from the small blind on Marc Fluss' Big Blind.

The two players saw a flop of 6d 5c 3c and the fireworks kicked off!

Lacourse bet out $160,000 and Fluss now moved all-in over the top for an extra $665,000 chips. A short period of contemplation later, and Lacourse called!

Fluss tables Ts 6s for top pair and Lacourse had taken a gamble with his Qs 4d open ended straight draw.

The turn blanked but a 2s appeared on the river.

There seemed some confusion for a while but Lacourse had made his straight and Fluss' tournament life was no more, as he was eliminated in 3rd spot, winning $156,424.

This left former fireman Dale Eberle heads up with a chip deficit against former Cop Dan Lecourse. With the former emergency services staff facing off against each other, we were always likely to see a fiery conflict and this proved the case as things were settled in quickfire fashion.

Lacourse Wins!

Eberle raised preflop, and Lacourse made the call.

They saw a flop of 9h 9s Ks and Lacourse check called a bet.

The turn was the 2d and after Lacourse checked, Eberle bet out again and now Lacourse check raised all-in!

Eberle took little time to call!

Cards on their backs, Eberle had K-4 for top pair, whilst Lacourse showed he had 7-9 for a mighty and almost unassailable hand of trip sevens!

Only a King on the river would stop Lacourse now, and it never arrived which meant Dale Eberle was eliminated in 2nd place, winning $235,141.

And we have our champion Dan Lacourse who wins $368,832 and the shiny gold bracelet!

Join us later for the full interview and final pictures but for now we send out congratulations to Dan Lacourse for a great performance, a big payday and his first WSOP gold bracelet!

Event 42 - Time For Some Medication! ! 1 year ago

Wow, what a final hour we have witnessed, with bust-out following bust-out! The veterans of the poker circuit are showing the youngsters how aggressive poker is played!

Nurse, give these guys some sedatives!

Here's the amazing tale of how things have played out.

Wood Chopped Down( OUT - 6th)

Much to the chagrin of his watching rail, Charles Wood has been eliminated.

He moved in on the turn of a 3h 8s Td 3s baord for $450,000 and picked up a call from Fred Berger.

Berger flipped K-T for top pair and was ecstatic as Wood turned over his hand K-6, as he realised he had caught his opponent with his hand well and truly in the till, drawing stone cold dead.

So the well supported Charles Wood is OUT, eliminated in 6th place, winning $84,771.

Berger, No Chips (OUT - 5th)

Fred Berger was the next to be slain, getting his measly stack in with pocket deuces from UTG, but running headlong into Lecourse who flipped a dominating pair of Jacks.

No surprises on the board, mean we lose Fred Berger, out in 5th place, winning $106,974. Good game sir!

Jerry-At Risk (OUT - 4th)

Jerry Yamachika shoved over the top of Dan Lecourse's raise to $200,000 for $610,000, but was called quickly. Lecourse has played well today but has had a hand or two and he's picked up another in A-Q.

Yamachika was drawing live, but that was of no consolation as a Queen high board popped out and we lost yet another competitor in quick succession.

Jerry Yamachika OUT, eliminated in 4th spot, winning $131,194
