Day 3 Live Updates

Event 36 - Heads-Up! 1 year ago

We're now heads-up at the final table of Event 36, the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em tournament and Jesper Hougaard is running like god. Here's how the last two eliminations played out as we prepare for the mano a mano culmination to this thrilling event.

Wong Gone!

Aaron Kanter raises to $130,000 and Danny Wong moves all-in over the top for his last $380,000 from the small blind. In the big blind, Hougaard moves all-in to isolate and Kanter gets out of the way. Wong is well ahead with Kd Kc against Hougaard's Ah 5h, but the flop is a killer for Danny boy, coming Qh Th 6h to give Hougaard the nut flush.

The turn is the 8d and the river the Js and Wong is eliminated in fourth place. He'll take $217,110 for his finish, although he'll doubtless wonder what might have been as he's counting his stacks.

DeKantered!

A few hands later, Kanter gets his last $800,000 in the middle preflop against Hougaard, Qc Qd against Ks Jc. The flop comes Ac 4h 3c and the turn the 7d. Kanter looks primed for the double-up, but the river is the dagger Kd and Hougaard spikes the best hand, busting Kanter to the delirious cheers of his countrymen.

Kanter is out in third and earns $258,862 for his efforts.

Heads-Up!

We're now heads-up between Hougaard and Cody Slaubaugh, with Hougaard holding a $6.6 million to $850,000 chip advantage. Game on!

Event 36 - Downs Wong! 1 year ago

It's more and more looking like the Jesper Hougaard show at the final table of the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em tournament. With four players remaining, Hougaard has jumped to a substantial chip lead and looks to be in complete control of the proceedings.

Wong Takes A Hit

Danny Wong and Hougaard are in the blinds and see a flop come As 7s 4c. Wong bets out $50,000 and Hougaard makes the call. The turn is the 9c and Wong again fires, making it $131,000 to go. Hougaard again flats and the river is the 2s. Wong bets a third time, making it $205,000 to go. Hougaard tanks for a few minutes before re-raising to $570,000 and Wong gives the matter some thought before laying it down.

Kanter Doubles!

Jesper Hougaard puts Aaron Kanter all-in from the small blind and the 2005 WSOP final-tablist makes the call, showing Kc Tc to Hougaard's Kd 5c. The board comes Ks 8d 3d Td 4h and Kanter makes two pair to double through Hougaard, who maintains a big lead on the rest of the field.
