Event 31 - Dinner For Three 1 year ago

Three handed play in the six-handed event has turned into quite the epic battle. Over the past hour Dario Minieri has lost his lead and the three combatants are in a virtual dead heat.

They are headed on a dinner break following the end of this level and with all three both rising and falling between the $2 million and $1.5 million range it's anybody's bracelet.

Minieri had a stranglehold on the lead for the entire day, but lost his grip thanks to a huge hand with Justin Filtz in the past hour.

All three players limped into the Ac 10d 2d flop before Dario led out with a $105,000 bet. Seth Fischer got out of the way before Filtz shoved. Dario tanked for a minute or two, but emerged making the call.

It was Qd Jd for Dario and Filtz looked as good as dead holding the 5d 3d. Both had gutshots and flush draws, although Dario's was bigger and Justin was left praying for any non-diamond low card to hit and make him a hand.

When the 4h fell on the turn it was all he needed to make his wheel and Dario was the one praying for a jack or any diamond on the next and final street.

The 4c river didn't do it and with the double up Filtz was up to $1.5 million and he fist pounded his buddies on the rail as Dario was left to be consoled by Italian players Max Pescatori, Luca Pagano and Claudio Rinaldi, who have been around the ESPN stage to support Minieri throughout the match.

Since the big hand the chip lead has traded hands a few times with Minieri and Fischer both hovering between the $1.5 million and $2 million mark. That is until Fischer stole another pot from Minieri on a Qc 7c 3h flop and crept up to $2.25 million.

Dario has $2 million and Filtz $1.2 million as they head into the break.

Event 31 - Dario Down 1 year ago

While we are still three handed, Seth Fischer has leapfrogged Justin Filtz to take over second spot and courtesy of a strange play by Dario Minieri he's now in contention for the bracelet.

The big hand between the two began with a $90k raise from Minieri which was re-raised by Fischer up to $275.

Dario took his time re-raising that bet putting another $305,000 in the middle. But when Fischer showed he was ready to play for it all and pushed in, Dario folded.

Having $580k in the pot already, Minieri must have been making a pretty gutsy play at the pot with rags considering it was only another $580k to call. His lead is now just a slim one.

The players have taken a 20-minute break with Minieri still in the lead sitting on $2.5 million. Fischer has a little over $2 million and Filtz is the shortest stack holding just $850,000.
