Event 2 - FInal Table - Player Down!
Yes one more player has joined the ever growing ranks of nearly rans in the quest to win bracelets and glory.
Bach Out! (8th)
David Bach, wearing his trademark cowboy hat, raises to $130,000 off his $650,000 stack and is called by Theo Tran in the small blind, which persuades Chris Ferguson to also make the call in the big blind.
The three players see the flop of K
9
5
and a series of checks ensues.
The turn card is the 3
and with Theo and Chris checking once more, Bach now makes his move, pushing allin for his remaining stack, $500,000. Ferguson looks like he may be considering a call...but then Tran re-raises allin!
Ferguson now folds and the players flip their cards.
Theo Tran: J
9
David Bach: 6
7
Bach showed he was semi-bluffing with a double belly buster whilst Tran picked off his bluff with second pair. Looking good for Tran, he just needed to dodge a four or eight to eliminate Bach and the river is the ultimate of blanks, the 2
.
That card means David Bach is eliminated in 8th spot, winning the attractive sum of $117,987 for his sterling efforts.
Congratulations but we have to say goodbye to David and his hat.
Full steam ahead for Akenhead
Former train driver, James Akenhead, responds to a raise from Ferguson in the cutoff to $150,00 by re-popping him to $450,000. After a moment's contemplation, Chris makes the call and they see a flop.
The flop falls 8
8
K
and both players check it down.
Turn: T
Again both players check.
River: 2
Check from Chris and James now bets out $500,000, but 'Jesus' is not interested in pursuing his hand and lays it down, leaving James to sweep up the one million dollar pot.
That coup has moved James Akenhead into the chip lead and leaves Chris a little short.

Event 2 - Final Table - Elimination!
Yes, first blood of this final table has been drawn and a dramatic hand it was too.
Jeff Wiedenhoeft (10th)
The drama started with Jeff Wiedenhoeft opening for $125,000, which picked up a solitary caller in Mike Ngo, who called out of the small blind.
The flop fell 8
7
6
and after a check from Mike, Jeff elected to overbet the pot, shoving all of his $700,000 in chips into the middle. Ngo took little time in calling holding A
T
and although he was merely drawing with his nut flush draw, gutshot straight draw and overcards, once Wiedenhoeft flipped the K
T
, it transpired Ngo was well in front with Ace high.
The A
on the turn merely improved Ngo's position, leaving Jeff rooting for a nine on the river to split the pot.
However the Q
fell to deny him, meaning Jeff Wiedenhoeft is our first elimination, knocked out in 10th spot, taking home $52,021 for his troubles.
Jeff was apparently heard lamenting the fact he had misread his hand, claiming he thought he had the K
in his hand. Although it would have ultimately proved academic, he may have been more reticent to ship his chips into the middle had he read his hand properly. Tournament poker is an unforgiving beast though and with no second chances, Jeff is on his way!
The play continues...
Joe Rutledge (9th)
Joe found himself short and pushed allin from middle position with pocket sixes. Chris Ferguson made the call from the big blind though and once he flipped A
9
the race was on!
'Jesus' has run pretty well so far and this trend continued as he spike an ace on an A
8
T
flop to move into the lead.
and 7
proved no good, meaning Ferguson takes another victim and Joe Rutledge is eliminated in 9th spot, winning $83,127.
