Event 19 - Final Table - Welcome To Vanessa Selbst Show
1 year ago
The final of the Omaha was reached fairly sharpish last night and Vanessa Selbst has around half of the chips in play, and looks to be a near lock for the bracelet. But Omaha is a real variance game and the swings can be huge, can she become the first woman to win an open event since Katja Thater's win in the Razz event last year?
Two Big Blinds Doesn't Last Long
Ken Lairson, was today's short stack with just two big blinds after Selbst knocked fellow big stack Tony Phillips on the final table bubble. He was all-in vs Selbst with 8-7-5-2 against her A-Q-Q-7, the board came a bricky 3-5-T-T-6 and we're instantly down to eight players.
James Pickering limps behind Thomas Schultz before Jamie Robbins moves all-in from the small blind. Schultz folds, but Pickering makes the call showing J

, Robbins shows A

, but the board doesn't come with the high cards# that the latter would likse to see. 8

gives Pickering a nine-high straight and it's enough to eliminate his opponent.
Randolph Out Of This Family Band
In a blind on blind battle versus Eugene Todd, Mel Randolph gets all his chips in on a 2

flop with A

Wrecking Ball
The one-woman demolition team that is Vanessa Selbst, just took out yet another player. She raised preflop to $29,000 before Craig Natte re-raised all-in. Selbst called with A
