Event 17 - Level 8 - The Beast Goes On!
Yeah, this tournament may in fact go on forever. After last night's debacle that saw play continue past dawn, only to resume today at 2 p.m. we're still three-handed at the final table of the $1.5k NLHE Shootout and the blinds and antes are maddeningly slim as compared to the massive stacks.
Anyway here's how the last hour panned out:
Big Pot for Young!
Jason Young raises to $170,000 and John Strzemp re-raises to $500,000. Mike Schwartz gets out of the way and after some tankage, Young makes the call. The flop comes 6
4
3
and Strzemp bets out $1,000,000. Young immediately moves all-in and Strzemp lays down the hand, conceding the pot to Young.
Strzemp Gets Some Back!
All three players limp-in and see a flop come Q
Q
T
. The field checks and the turn is the J
. Action checks to Strzemp, who bets out $150,000. Schwartz folds out but Young makes the call and the river is the 5
. Strzemp bets out $325,000 and Young makes the call, but mucks when Strzemp shows 9
8
for the straight.
UPDATE: Strzemp Busto; Heads-Up Begins!
And as we're in the middle of this update, John Strzemp is eliminated at the final table. He and Schwartz saw a flop come K
7
2
and Strzemp bet out $175,000. Schwartz made the call and the turn brought the 5
, prompting a $500,000 wager from Strzemp and another call from Schwartz.
The river was the K
and Strzemp moved all-in for his last $1.3 million. Schwartz calls instantly, showing K
8
while Strzemp has only Q
9
and is exceedingly busto. He'll take $129,675 for his time.
Meanwhile, heads-up play between Mike Schwartz and Jason Young begins now, with the former holding a $5.1 million to $4.9 million chip advantage over the latter. Gogogogogo!

Event 17 - Level 7 - Three-Handed Play Continues!
Here's the latest and greatest as three-handed play continues at the final table of the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Shootout Spectacular:
He Check, He Check!
Mike Schwartz and Jason Young check the flop and turn of a board that comes A
8
8
9
7
and Schwartz bets out $75,000 on the river. Young makes the call and shows A
T
for aces-up but Schwartz has A
8
for eights-full and takes the pot.
Strzemp Doubles!
Strzemp gets all-in preflop and Young makes the call, turning up A
T
to Strzemp's A
K
. The flop comes 6
5
2
but the turn brings the T
to give Young the better hand. The river, however, is the K
and Strzemp rivers a king to stay alive and double through Jason Young.
More For Strzemp!
Schwartz limps-in on the button and Young and Strzemp join the party in the blinds. The flop comes Q
4
3
and the action checks around. The turn is the Q
and Schwartz bets out $120,000. Young folds but Strzemp makes the call and the river is the A
, prompting a $150,000 wager from Schwartz and a quick call from Strzemp, who tables pocket deuces and remarkably, is good to take down the pot.
Pot For Schwartz
Schwartz and Young see a flop from the blinds and it comes Q
6
3
. Schwartz bets out $130,000 and Young raises to $300,000. Schwartz makes the call and the turn is the 7
. Both players check and the river is the 8
, prompting a check from Schwartz and a $300,000 wager from Young. Schwartz insta-calls and Young shows 6
3
for two pair, but Schwartz has Q
8
for a better two pair and takes the pot.
