Day 3 Live Updates

Blairing Victory

Blair Rodman
This Rodman Can Still Win.

After hours of one of the most hard-fought heads-up battles of the World Series of Poker, in the end it all came down to a lucky turn of the cards for Blair Rodman.  Rodman moved in pre-flop with A J to be called by Amato Galasso on the button holding A K.

It looked like a great opportunity for Amato Galasso to double up and take the chip lead, but the flop pulled the rug out from under him, coming J 5 4. The turn brought the 3 for a possible chop with any two, but the river brought the Q to seal the deal. Rodman took $707,898, a Corum watch and the bracelet; while Galasso made $448,808 for second place.

Redoubled Frenzy.

Rodman Rebounds

Blair Rodman is on the attack. After an hour of tight shortstackery, Blair made a couple of all-ins to take the lead with around $5,300,000 in chips. First he rivered a flush holding J-8 suited, then doubled again with pocket tens versus Amato Galasso's pocket fours.

Quickly following those two moves, he made a higher two pair to beat Galasso's two pair and take down a pot of a cool $1,000,000. It's any man's shroud again, folks.

More Cloak, Less Daggers

Heads-up play has been going on for over two hours, with no certain signs of letting up. Official -- and therefore hour-old -- chip counts have Blair Rodman and Amato Galasso sitting even around $4,000,000 in chips.

Our sources detect some tight play, with a lot of checking and folding; but a far greater difference in chips, with Galasso sitting closer to $6,300,000 and Rodman around the $1,750,000 mark. Stick with us for all the official news, plus blackmarket information.

Double-Whammy Slam-Bang Incredibleness!

Bach Blinded

Blair Rodman limped from the button, Amato Galasso did the same from the small blind; and Klein Kim Bach checked from the big blind. The flop came 9 9 2 for a bet from Blair, a fold from Galasso and a call from Bach.

On the 2 turn, Bach check-calls a bet from Rodman; then check-calls an all-in from Blair on the A river. Bach showed 6 2 for a full house of twos over nines, to be railed by Rodman's T 9 boat nines over twos. Bach's third-place boat is still worth $289,314.

Bach Plays Anna

Anna Wroblewski shipped her chips centerward to find a call from Klein Kim Bach. Anna showed K 4 to Bach's A 9 and could not survive the 3 3 2 9 9 board. Anna bows out in fourth place with $192,876.

Spoilers! -- We're Heads-Up

A little surreptitious reportage has confirmed that the action is indeed heads-up in the shroud. Who are the final two players? "Kill Phil" Blair Rodman and Amato Galasso, with Blair apparently currently leading by three-to-one. More as we have it.

Update 3 for Event 47, Day 3

Crying de Wolfe

Facing a raise from Amato Galasso, Roland de Wolfe moved in for the rest of his stack. De Wolfe had to be happy with his A Q versus Galasso's A 8; but a club-filled 7 5 4 3 4 board sent Roland out in sixth with $98,293.

Joe Pelted

Joe Pelton raised, to find a re-raise from Blair Rodman. Joe pushed, prompting a reluctant call from Blair, who showed K Q to Pelton's T T. The board brought 7 7 3 K 9 and two pair for Rodman. Joe leaves the event in seventh place with $74,183.

Update 2 for Event 47, Day 3

Rodman Rebounds Schnettler

Short-stacked David Schnettler pushed with A T to eventually fold a psychic Klein Kim Bach. ("You have the ace of spades, don't you?") When David moved a few hands later, he folded Joe Pelton's pocket treys; but Blair Rodman called with A T.

David showed a dominated Q T, which could not improve with the K K 8 8 A board. David earns $55,637 for his eighth-place finish.

Rodman Takes a Pass

Blair Rodman moved all-in from middle position holding A 2 to find a call from Anna Wroblewski on the button. Anna had spent the past hour slowly building her stack up past the $1,500,000 mark with hard work and smart play. Blair had been in almost no pots.

Which made it surprising when she called for a third of her chips with 2 2. She was a slight favorite before the flop, which brought A 8 7. The remaining Q 5 board were no help for Anna; and took Blair past the $1,000,000 for the first time.
