Tom Schneider Wins His Second Bracelet!

Tom Schneider is the winner of Stud Hi-Lo!

After grinding it out heads-up against Hoyt Verner, Schneider took down the tourney.

He brought it in first with the 4, and Verner raised it up with the A. Schneider called.

4th street brough Schneider 4-2, and Verner A-Q.

5th street was 4-2-K for Schneider and A-Q-7 for Verner, and Schneider hit kings and twos for two-pair, eliminating Verner in second place.

This is Tom's second bracelet of the year, and he takes home $147,713.

Congratulations!

Heads-Up Grinds Along

We've now played an hour of heads-up at the feature table in the Amazon Room, with Tom Schneider and Hoyt Verner battling it out for the bracelet and the cash. The players started mano-a-mano with almost identical chip stacks, and since then we've seen both players land punches with Verner taking over the chip lead before relinguishing it to Schneider. At present, both players are even again.

Key Hands:

At the beginning of heads-up, Verner took a nice pot from Schneider after bringing it in with the 2 and seeing Schneider complete with the 7. Verner bet on Fourth, both players checked Fifth, and after Schneider bet out Sixth showing 7 J 9 K, Verner raised with 2 4 3 9 and Schneider folded, giving Verner the pot.

About a half-hour later, Verner brought it in with the 4 and Schneider completed with the 7. Verner bet out on every street and Schneider flat-called on every street, showing 7 5 9 9 to Verner's 4 2 2 8. Verner turned up a duece and an eight in the hole and took down the pot with deuces full.

Later, Verner again brought it in with the 4 and Schneider completed with the 9. Both players checked Fourth and on Fifth Schneider bet out with 9 6 K and Verner raised with 4 5 9. On Sixth Street Schneider received the 6 and Verner the 4 and both players checked, and again the players checked on Seventh. Verner showed a pair of threes in the hole for fours-up, but Schneider had a nine hidden and took the pot with nines and sixes.

Chip Counts

Both players have about $650,000.

Out Baby!

Scotty Nguyen is out fourth after getting all in on third showing the K. Scotty had rolled up fives but he ran them into Hoyt Verner's rolled up aces and could not improve.

He had ordered a cocktail, but it wasn't delivered in time. Heading to the cage to pick up $31,610 should ensure Scotty can afford a few more drinks at the bar outside the Amazon Room.

Decked!

Woody Deck is the first casualty going out 8th when he had just enough chips to get to fourth street and had two pair beat by Miguel De La Cruz's better two pair. He'll cash $11,063 for 8th spot

Cruizing!

Miguel De La Cruz seems intent on playing a lot of pots in the early going.

Cruz scooped a pot off Woody Deck felting trip threes with A 7 4 6 showing. Deck mucked.

A few hands earlier he split with Tony Ma. Ma was all in on the river with the low against Cruz's two pair Jacks and sixes.

Before that, Cruz dumped a decent sized pot to Tommy Hang when Hang forced him off the hand on fifth street.
