Event 41, World Championship Seniors No-Limit Hold'em - Live Updates
Day 3 Live Updates
Winnar!!
5 years agoErnest Bennett has won the World Championship Senior's No-Limit. But the prize money was chopped. The 55-year old businessman whose first big poker tournament was this same event last year, rode an aggressive style to the gold.
Once heads up with Tony Korfman, who penned a book on Texas Hold'em that was endorsed by Ninjas, they decided to chop the cash and give Bennett the bracelet. The final meaningless hand played out with Bennett's pocket fives flopping a set against Korfman's J-3.
Following the tournament Korfman said he didn't care at all about the bracelet and only wanted the cash. His book is supposedly pretty funny. That Ninja thing just slays me!
Ed Smith 4th!
5 years agoEd Smith doubled up through Tony Korfman, but got it all in a few hands later and Ernest Bennett made the call felting A♣ K♣.
Smith had only the J♣ 10♦. Blanks on the flop and an Ace on the turn ended his hopes for World Series Senior glory.
He does cash $95,907 for third!
Korfman King!
5 years agoOn the back of a pair of Aces in the BB, Tony Korfman rides into the chip lead taking a huge pot off Ed Smith.
Smith made it $300K to go before the flop, but ran into Korman's all-in reraise. He made the call, but his Q♥ J♦ was no match for Korfman's rockets.
The board of 8♥ 9♠ 5♠ 8♠ A♥ brought Korfman the set and a stack of $1.8 million in chips.
He's the new chip boss and Smith is close to the rail with just $300,000 remaining.
Lewis loses!
5 years agoLeon Lewis got it all in the middle for his last $170K facing the standard aggressive $100K bet from Ernest Bennett.
Bennett called and showed his A♣ 6♣. Lewis had two lives in the K♣ J♣. The A♠ 6♥ Q♠ killed that, but gave him four tens to root for.
The 3♦ turn and 5♥ river sent Lewis to the cage sixth to pick up $47,953 and increased Bennett's monster stack to over $1.3 million.
All in bad!
5 years agoGetting it all in with K-Garbage seems to be all the rage in this event. Plus, it's working!
First Tony Korfman pumped $70,000 into a pot from the button only to see Leon Lewis reraise from the BB another $100K.
Somehow Korfman found it a good idea to reraise all in for another $100K and Lewis called.
Korfman had the K♦ 7♠ against Lewis' Q♥ 10♦ and made two pair on the 4♠ K♠ 7♦ flop. It held.
Thomas Catanzaro doubled up next when he made it $100,000 to go pre flop and was pushed all in by Ed Smith. Smith felted the Q♦ J♦ and Catanzaro's K♦ 3♦ was ahead. His King-Rag missed the board, but kept the lead and he doubled up.
Snake Sunk!
5 years agoJack Deutsch is done moving in for his last $100K+ with K♥ 9♠. He got the call from the dominating A♥ 9♥ of Ed Smith and the final board missed them both.
The Staten Island Snake goes out 7th and picks up $35,965.
Ernest Bennett retains the chip lead with almost 2-1 over the next biggest stack.
Power Poker!
5 years agoErnest Bennett is putting on a clinic in Power Poker sitting on the big stack. He's got over $1 million in chips and is making it at least $100,000 to see any flops.
When Leon Lewis made it $150,000 to go from the cutoff, Bennett checked his hole cards in the BB and bumped it up another $500K.
We had a peek and Bennett was holding A-J. Lewis mucked it.
Meanwhile, the big hand of the hour was a sick suckout by Rod Clarida. Rod pushed all-in with A♥ 2♥ only to get the call from Tony Korfman sitting on A♣ A♠.
The flop of 10♠ 4♦ 5♣ gave Clarida four outs and a ray of hope, but the A♦ on the turn gave Korfman the set.
Sure enough, the 3♠ came on the river and Clarida made the wheel to double up. SICK!
Ables Unable!
5 years agoIt didn't take long for another elimination in this high-octaine final table. The seniors are playing like they have to get home for the 4 p.m. Golden Girls rerun on Nickelodeon.
Ray Ables was eliminated in 8th position after moving all in for his last $140K and getting the call from Ernest Bennett.
Bennett's pocket sevens were up against Ables A-Q, but Abels was unable to improve on the board of K♣ 10♦ 6♥ 3♠ 4♠.
He picks up $26,546 for 8th.
First Casualty!
5 years agoCharles Anderson goes out in 9th Place moving in UTG with pocket Queens. Tony Korfman obliged with the call holding A♦ K♠ and the classic race was on.
The 8♣ J♠ 5♣ flop kept Anderson alive, as did the 10♣ turn, but the K♥ came down on the river ending his hopes for World Series Gold. He'll cash $20,209 for 20 minutes work today and too many to count over the last two.
Welcome to the Snake Pit!
5 years agoThe cards are in the air and Jack "The Staten Island Snake" Deutsch is wasting no time.
He pushed his short stack all in on the second hand of the day and looked like he was ready to take his "Welcome to The Snake Pit" sign and go home.
He got the call from Big Stack Ernest Bennett who had the ever so slight lead with his 4♣ 4♥ against Deutsch's Q♦ A♠, but it was short lived. The flop came down 10♠ 7♣ A♦ and The Snake was looking like he would double up.
The 6♣ turn and 6♥ river made it happen.
"Let's keep that snake pit alive," Jack roared to the railbirds.
Looks like there's going to be some action today at the Senior's final table. Keep it locked on PokerListings.com for hourly updates and all the bustouts as they happen.
