Day 3 Live Updates
Fred Goldberg Wins Event 40!
5 years agoIt took more than an hour but Rene Mouritsen could not overcome Fred Goldberg's immense chip lead. Here's how the final hand played out:
Mouritsen and Goldberg both see a flop of J♥ 8♥ 4♥. Mouritsen bets out $40,000 and Goldberg raises to $140,000. Mouritsen pushes all-in and Goldberg calls. Mouritsen has 5♥ 2♥ for a flush but Goldberg has 10♥ 7♥ for the better flush. Mouritsen has a runner-runner straight flush draw but other than that he's beat. The turn is 5♦ which confirms his fate. The river is a meaningless K♠ and Goldberg has won his first bracelet!
Mouritsen earns $125,895 for his second place finish while Goldberg will be taking home $204,935 for first.
Congratulations to both players.
Niesert Knocked - Christoph Niesert Eliminated 3rd ($82,804)
5 years agoBohlman Beat - Scott Bohlman Eliminated 4th ($54,498)
5 years agoBohlman is extremely short-stacked and pushes all-in for his last $90,000. Mouritsen calls and shows A♠ K♥. Bohlman flips over K♣ 10♣ and we're off to the races. The flop comes 9♥ 9♠ 4♠ which means little for either player but Mouritsen is still in the lead. The turn comes 6♥ which does nothing for Bohlman's hand. Finally the river card comes 5♦ and Bohlman is finished.
Mouritsen is in the chip lead.
Marcotte Massacre - Kevin Marcotte Eliminated 5th ($39,289)
5 years agoScott Bohlman makes it $50,000 to go pre-flop but Kevin Marcotte responds by pushing all-in for $115,000. Rene Mouritsen doesn't want to be left out of the fun and bets $355,000. Marcotte is already covered but Bohlman thinks for a minute and then calls.
Bohlman shows Q♥ Q♠, Marcotte has A♥ Q♣ and Mouritsen flips over A♦ K♠. Bohlman is in the lead as we head to the flop which comes K♦ 10♠ 9♣. Mouritsen spikes his king and he's now in the lead. The turn comes 7♦ improving no ones hand and finally the river comes 6♣.
Marcotte is out, Bohlman is hurting and Mouritsen is way, way up.
Brandenburg Busts - Joe Brandenburg Eliminated 6th ($30,418)
5 years agoJoe Brandenburg is sitting in the small blind and decides to raise the pot to $60,000. Fred Goldberg wants to play and re-raises the pot to $66,000 forcing Brandenburg all-in. Brandenburg makes the call and shows 8♠ 7♦ while Goldberg flips over 4♦ 3♦.
The board goes 5♥ 5♦ 4♣ 10♣ A♣ giving Goldberg two-pair and the checkmark. Brandenburg has been eliminated.
Craig Cracked - Michael Craig Eliminated 7th ($22,850)
5 years agoChristoph Niesert bets $60,000 pre-flop but Michael Craig responds by pushing all-in for $83,000. Niesert calls and shows A♣ Q♠ while Craig has A♠ 8♠. With the lower kicker Craig will need to improve as we head to the flop which comes K♥ 5♥ 3♣. Nothing for Craig there and Niesert is still in the lead. The turn comes J♠ and Craig's hand still does not improve. The final nail in the coffin was the river which came 6♦.
Craig has been eliminated but Niesert is looking very strong with over $500,000 in chips.
Reza Wrecked - Reza Zand Eliminated 8th ($16,926)
5 years agoLopez Lost - Karlo Lopez Eliminated 9th ($12,271)
