WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!!!!11

Winnar.
Papa Smurfit

After battling it out for close to two hundred hands we finally have a winner! An anticlimactic end to a long and drawn out match, JJ Liu was one of the only one's who seemed to show much excitement for the win, cheering on her friend Smurfit.

Here's how it all went down:

Qushqar got all-in with 9-9-6-10. Smurfit was showing J-8-Q-2.

The flop was 8 J 6. The turn was another 6 and Qushkar was ahead with the sixes.

The river, however, brought Alan the 8 and the victory!

Qushqar Morad is out in 2nd, taking $279,595.

Alan Smurfit takes home the top prize of $464,867

Chip Count Update

Alan Smurfit has about $1.4 million in chips; Qushqar Morad has about $2 million.

We have seen very few complete boards. Both players are consistently folding to bets and picking at each other's stacks.

Our 150th Hand

Can you believe it? We can't. This is what happened on numero 150:

The flop was A T 3. Qushqar bet $150K, Alan called. The turn was 6, Alan checked. Qushqar bet $300K, and Alan folded.

Blinds are at $80,000/$160,000, which is beyond a level we can name.

Please, do stay tuned. This is history you are witnessing - perhaps one of the longest Pot-Limit Omaha heads-up plays ever.

Back And Forth

Qushqar Morad

That's the action. Back and forth. We've seen the players even out for the second time now, and it doesn't look like anyone is giving up their stacks easily.

Stay tuned for the winner, soon, maybe.

Here's the hand that brought Qushqar back in after being short-stacked:

The flop was Q Q 2. Qushqar checjed and Alan bet $120K and Qushqar caloled. The turn was the 8, and both players checked.

The river was the K, and Qushqar raised it up to $300K, an Alan cllaed.

Qushqar doubleS up with queens over deuces.

And Then Again!!

Qushqar has doubled up again! He turned trip tens and had tens full of aces. He's not going anywhere, it looks like.

Slow Action Breaks Record

This is going very slow, as the players try to whittle away at the stack.

We've now played more hands heads-up, to get to the final table heads-up. This is the longest heads-up match of the 2007 World Series so far.

Here's the new chip counts:

Qushqar Morad - $900K

Alan Smurfit $2.4 million

Here are some choice hands:

Pot Commitment - Not An Issue

Qushqar raised it to $200K pre-flop, and Alan called. The flop was 5 Q 9. Alan checked and Qushqar bet $300K. Alan then re-raised it to $1.1 million! Reluctantly, Qushqar folded.

Check-Raise Action

Both players just called pre-flop. The flop came out: 9 7 6

Both players checked. The turn was the 8, and Alan checked; Qushqar bet $200K, and Alan check-raised it another $600K. Qushqar called, and the river was the K. Alan bet $280K, and Qushqar called.

Alan took the pot with a 6-high flush, holding A 2.

Smurfit Takes the Lead

Alan Smurfit
Alan "Papa" Smurfit

Alan Smurfit limps-in and Qushqur Morad raises to $240,000. Smurfit calls and the flop comes Q 8 3. Morad checks and Smurfit bets the pot and Morad calls. The turn is the 7 and again Morad checks. Smurfit bets all-in for his last $185,000. Morad makes the call and shows A A J 9 to Smurfit's Q 9 9 8. The river is the Q and Smurfit takes the pot with queens-full, doubling through Morad and taking over the chip lead.

Morad quickly regains the chip lead, however, and now holds a $2 million to $1.5 million advantage. Onward!

Smurfit Doubles

Like a scene from EuroRounders, Alan Smurfit and Qushqar Morad raise the pot repeatedly until both players are all-in preflop, with Smurfit contesting for his tournament life with A 5 5 3 to Morad's A K K 8. The flop comes T 8 4 and the turn is the 9, keeping Morad in the lead and in line for his second WSOP bracelet. The river card is the 5 and Smurfit rivers a full house to double through Morad and keep his own bejeweled dreams alive.

Despite the double-up, Smurfit is still way behind Morad in terms of chips and overall sexiness, the former $1,000,000 to $2,515,000. Sexiness, unfortunately, cannot be quantified. Play on!

Van Marcus
Marcus: Neiman'd

Alan Smurfit limps-in from the small blind and Van Marcus checks his option in the big blind. The flop comes 7 6 6 and Smurfit checks. Marcus bets out $120,000 and Smurfit raises enough to put Marcus all-in. Marcus beats his opponent to the pot, showing 9 8 6 3 for trip sixes to Smurfit's K 9 7 7 for sevens-full. The board finishes out Q Q and the Cloven-Hoofed Set once again bites its holder in the tail, sending Van Marcus to the rai in third place for $190,236.

We are now heads-up at the final table, with Qushqar Morad holding a $2,215,000 to $1,300,000 chip lead over Alan Smurfit. Stay tuned!

Bjorin calls for his last $125,000 and shows Q T 9 7 to Marcus' A J T 7. Giang Banged

Chau Giang
Chau: Chomped

Chau Giang limps-in from the small blind and (who else?) Qushqar Morad checks in the big blind. The flop comes K Q T and both players check to see the turn, which is the 3. Giang bets out $60,000, prompting a raise from Morad and an all-in call from ya boy. Giang turns over T T 7 4 to Morad's A J T 4. The river is the 9 and Morad earns the check mark with the Broadway Straight to send Giang, like everyone who has dared to tangle with Q-Mo before, to the rail. Chau finishes in fifth place for $96,005.

Meanwhile, Morad now has $1.7 million to his name, good for a million-dollar chip lead on second-place Alan Smurfit. Chris Bjorin is sitting about tied with Smurfit, while Van Marcus is pulling up the rear with $400,000.

Qushqar Morad raises to $105,000 from the cutoff and Brandon Adams raises to the pot. Morad calls and the flop comes J J 9 and Morad checks to Adams, who gets all-in for his last $100,000 and change. Morad makes the call and shows Q Q 3 3 to Adams' A A 8 6. The board ends up 3 9 and Morad turns a full house to send Adams back to the family, a sixth place finisher with $75,795 to take back to Lurch & Co.

E'ryting Not Be Shirey

World Series of Poker Circuit Event All-Star Hilbert Shirey raises to $70,000 from under the gun and is called by Qushqar Morad. The flop comes K 6 3 and Shirey pots it, betting more or less enough to go all-in. Morad makes the call, and both players turn over their cards - except Shirey is not yet technically all-in. The floor is called for a ruling, and it's decided that both players are now all-in since they both want to be.

Shirey turns over A A J 8 to Morad's K K J 3, and after the board finishes out 8 7, Morad gets the check mark with a set of kings. Shirey, a bona fide PokerListings.com fave, takes ninth place for a $30,317 payday.
