Nguyen Lost; Elezra is SCSHLEOB Champ!
Scotty Nguyen has joined the ranks of fallen soldiers, both other eliminated players and the line of empty beer cans around the final table, going out in second and taking home $110,731.
Eli Elezra, meanwhile, has taken down his first WSOP bracelet, $198,984 and this year's SCSHLEOB World Championship. In the final hand of the match, with the chip advantage still clearly on Elezra's side, Nguyen found himself all-in after the first deal with (7-7)-A. Elezra held (K-Q)-T and was looking to improve.
By sixth street Nguyen was still in the lead with (7-7)-A-2-T-Q and Elezra looking to pair up or hit his open-ended straight draw showing (K-Q)-T-7-3-J. The river was dealt and Elezra received an ace, making the broadway straight and eliminating the Prince of Poker in second.
The two friends exchanged an embrace and Nguyen congratulated Elezra on his victory. It appeared that Nguyen was genuinely happy for Elezra, as evidenced by the ear to ear grin plastered on his face. But bear in mind, Scotty also had a fair amount to drink tonight!
