Day 2 Live Updates
All Ovar! Clements is Champ!
5 years agoGoing into the heads-up match with a monster chip lead, it didn't take long for Scott Clements to send Eric Lynch on his way and claim his second WSOP bracelet.
In the very first hand of one on one play Lycnh moved in before the flop and Clements made the call. K♥ 9♥ 9♣ 8♣ for Clements was in the lead against Rizen's Q♣ 7♦ 2♠ 2♥. Lynch took the lead when the flop came Q♦ 4♦ 3♦ and held onto it when the turn brought the 8♥. The river changed all that though when the dealer turned over the 9♦, giving Clements the winning set and sending Eric "Rizen" Lynch home in second.
Eric Lynch receives $119,508 for his finish and Scott Clements takes $194,206 and his second WSOP bracelet!
Down to Three; The Bracelet Running Strong
5 years agoWe're down to three and it's Scott "The Bracelet" Clements out in front with a decisive lead. We've given him this blinged-out moniker due to the fact that we have never, not once, seen him without his WSOP bracelet that he won last year. In addition to his bracelet he is never without his WSOPC ring and WPT jewelery as well.
Tommy: Gunned (3rd)
Tommy Ly is out in third, paving the way for a short heads-up match between Eric Lynch and Scott Clements. Clements and Ly got all-in before the flop and it was Ly in the lead with A-Q-Q-2 to Scott's J-T-6-3. The board gave Clements the best hand though, an ace-high straight and the check mark.
Durkee makes out Will (4th)
Will Durkee is done. Kaput. Scott Clements opened the pot and was re-popped by Durkee who raised the pot. Clements, while blinding his opponents with the reflection from his wrist-candy, put Durkee all-in.
K-K-T-7 for Clements was out in front of Durkee's A-K-J-9. After all the cards were out Clements had made a broadway straight, enough to eliminate Mr. Durkee.
Back from Dinner; Two Down, Four to Go
5 years agoOur six courageous gladiators have returned from dinner, refueled and ready to battle it out for the glory of PLO victory. Two player have gotten the boot from this final table since then, Mark Davis and Jason Newburger. Read about their roads to destruction, do it, do it!
Newburger Overdone (5th)
Jason Newburger, the man with the name tasty enough to eat, has been burned. Low on chips, Newburger moved in before the flop and got calls from both Tommy Ly and Will Durkee. The two players still with chips checked down a board of A♠ A♣ J♥ J♣ 4♥. Ly showed a jack and along with any other card in his hand he made trips to send Newburger to the rail.
Rizen Rising, Downward Davis
Eric "Rizen" Lynch has just doubled up at the expense of Mark Davis. Mark limped from under the gun and it was folded to Scott Clements in the small blind. Scott limped and Lynch put in a pot-sized raise from the big blind.
It was back on Davis and he re-potted, pushing Clements out of the hand. Lynch called, putting himself all-in. K♥ K♦ 9♦ 7♥ for Davis was up against the K♠ K♣ A♥ 2♣ of Eric Lynch. The board came 9♠ 8♣ 4♥ Q♦ A♦, making Lynch a pair of aces on the river and doubling him up. He was all-in for $137,000 and doubled that, adding the blinds to his stack as well.
Davis Dunzo (6th)

Mark Davis, in the big blind, limped and saw a flop of Q♠ T♥ T♣ along with Tommy Ly. Davis led out with a $20k bet and got a quick call from Ly. The A♠ on the turn and Davis led out with another $20k, this time a much smaller bet in relation to the pot size.
The river brings the 5♥ and after another small $20k bet from Davis, Ly re-raises enough to put Davis all-in. He makes the call and knows it's over when Ly turns over pocket tens for quads! For his sixth place finish Mark Davis takes home $29,877.
Blinds and Antes for...
Many pots are being decided by a pre-flop pot-sized raise from either the player in the cutoff or on the button. Six in a row was the last record I witnessed.

7th Place Goes To Andy Black
5 years agoAndy Black got all-in with kings but had to shell-out.
Will Durkee raised it up to $28K pre-flop, and Black was all-in for $78K.
Black showed his cards - K-K-6-4, but Durkee had him beat with A-A-A-K. The flop was 10-10-9, which didn't change anything, and the turn and river were 2-Q.
Black goes home in 7th place, with a pay of $22,408.
8th And 9th Place Eliminations
5 years agoIn a 3-handed play, Scott Clements singlehandedly eliminated two players!
Here's what went down:
K.U. Davis had A-J-J-10, Anthony MacCanello had A-A-K-4, and Clements had A-K-9-J. both Davis and MacCanello were all-in.
The flop was Q-10-8, and Clements had flopped his straight!! The turn was a 3 and the river, the Q♠, giving Clements a huge win.
Davis was eliminated in 9th place with $11,794.
MacCanello was eliminated in 8th, with $16,511.
Nine...Wait, Eight, To Go
5 years agoThe tournament has moved to the final table area and here are the seatings:
Seat 1: Mark Davis
Seat 2: K.U. Davis
Seat 3: Dau "Tommy" Ly
Seat 4: Will Durkee
Seat 5: Jason Newburger
Seat 6: Richard Olafsson
Seat 7: Anthony MacCanello
Seat 8: Scott Clements
Seat 9: Eric "Rizen" Lynch
Seat 10: Andy Black
We are only six hands in and we've already seen an elimination:
10th Place Elimination: Richard Olofsson
Oloffson got all-in and was called by Scott Clements. Oloffson had Q-J-10-5, and was ahead pre-flop versus Clements' 8-7-4-2.
The board came out A-8-6-A-5, and Clements paired his eight, sending Richard packing. He takes hom $7,862.
We are down to the final nine - stay tuned!
Final Ten Decided: Last Eliminations
5 years agoWe have moved to the ESPN sound stage to see the rest of the action - here are the most recent eliminations:
11th Place Elimination: Hilbert Shirley
After coming late and getting blinded off, Shirley still managed to sneak into 11th place, taking home $7,862. He got all-in with J-9-7-4 and was called by Eric Lynch, with A-K-J-10.
The flop was A-5-2, and Lynch was ahead already. The turn and river were 6-Q, and Shirley was eliminated.
12th Place Elimination: Gary Lundgren
Gary Lundgren got all-in after seeing a flop of Q-J-J. Scott Clements agreed to the task and showed Q-Q-5-2 - a house of queens! Lundgren had A-K-J-8.
The turn and river were 5♥ 3♥, giving Lundgren nada - he goes home with $7,076.
13th Place Elimination: Arnold Spee
Spee was short-stacked, and was all-in. Tony Ly called it, with A-8-3-2. Spee had A-K-7-6, and after the flop came out - A-Q-5, Spee was ahead with his king kicker. Unfortunately, after a turn of 9, a 2 came out on the river, giving Tony aces and ducks.
Spee goes home in 13th, with $7,076.
Rami Boukai was eliminated in 14th place, and he will also take home $7,076.
15th Place Elimination: Ayaz Mahmood
5 years agoMahmood!
He got all-in versus Gary Lundgren with a pretty good hand - J♦ J♣ 6♣ 6♦. Unfortunately, Lundgren got the best of him with A♥ A♦ T♠ 3♣. The board was Q♥ Q♣ 8♠ K♥ 5♣, so Mahmood's jacks were killed and he leaves us in 15th place.
He gets paid $7,076.
15 Players Left
5 years agoBlinds are up and players are busting out everywhere! We can hardly keep up. Here are the most recent:
Jody Simon - 16th Place Finish
Jody Simon was busted out by the remaining Davis - Mark Davis. He will cash-in for $6,290.
Sam Albueid - Gone in 17th!
Our 17th place finisher today is Sam Albueid. Scott Clements called his all-in. Albueid had K♠ K♣ 9♦ 4♦. Clements had A♥ Q♠ J♠ 2♥. Clements was ahead with his kings.
The board was T♦ 3♦ 2♠ Q♣ 9♣, and the kings were good - Clements picked up Albueid's defeat, and Albueid was sent to the cash-in office in 17th place.
Martin Davis Busts Out in 18th
Davis got all-in and was called by Andy Black. Davis had A♣ K♥ 4♥ 2♠; Black had J♣ 3♥ 3♦ 2♦. The flop was K♠ Q♠ 3♣, and Black had a set of threes. The turn and river were T♣ 8♥, giving Davis nothin', and sending him home.
Davis will take home $6,290 for his 18th place finish.
19th Place Elimination: Charlie Gibbs
5 years agoWe are down to two tables now that Charlie Gibbs has been eliminated. Players are redrawing for new seats.
19th Place Elimination: Charlie Gibbs
It was a battle of sets, when Gibbs got all-in with a set of nines. He was up against K.U. Davis, who also had a set - aces.
The flop was A♣ T♦ 9♥, and the turn and river made no diff to Gibbs. He leaves up today with $5,504.
Sound The Violins: Johnny Chan Has Been Eliminated In 20th Place.
5 years agoSad, but true - Johnny Chan's 11th bracelet attempt was unsuccessful this time. He has been eliminated in 20th place. James Dankelberger went out just before him, in 21st place.
Players are currently on a break, and will be back in fifteen minutes to play the under-20 crowd.
Here's the lowdown:
20th Place Elimination: Johnny Chan
Johnny was up against Mark Davis when he got all-in with his hand after the flop. The flop was 2♥ 9♥ 2♠. They turned up their cards - Johnny had Q-J-9-5, and Davis had J♠ 6♦ 6♠ J♠. Davis was ahead with his jacks. The turn and river was A-3 - nothing for Chan, and he was eliminated in 20th place, and will also take home $5,504. See you soon, Johnny.
21st Place Elimination: James Dankelberger
Andy Black took out JD with a pair of kings. Dankelberger was all-in on a board of 6-4-5-J-Q. He showed a hand of A-K-T-7, versus Black's K-K-T-7.
Black's kings were good enough for the win, and he sent Dankelberger to the rail, with a pay of $5,504.
All Shuffled Up And Dealt - Eliminations Already
5 years agoThe day has officially begun! Leopard-print clad Johnny Chan was seen racing through the crowded Rio hallways, cushion in hand, to get to his table - but he was still late, and missed two hands.
There is still an empty seat in the house - Hilbert Shirley has not yet arrived, and his $86,000 stack of chips is slowly weathering away as it gets blinded off.
Round 12 is the start off, with blinds at $1,500/$3,000. We're playing at three tables, and there are only 12 eliminations left before we get to the final table - we've already seen Bradley Libson go home in 23rd place, and bracelet winner Burt Boutin has taken 22nd place.
Here's some early PLO action:
22nd Place Elimination: Burt Boutin
Burt got all-in versus Jody Simon on a flop of Q-8-4. Jody flipped over Q-J-8-5, hodling the lead with 2-pair. Burt had T-8-7-5.
The turn and flop didn't work out for Boutin so he goes home today with a pay of $5,504. The bracelet winner from Event 7 will have to wait it out to see another piece of bling.
23rd Place Elimination: Bradley Libson
Brad Libson got all-in on a flop of 9♥ 5♠ 4♦, and Dau Ly called. Ly showed 9-9-6-3 - he flopped a set. Libson had K-Q-3-2.
The turn and river were 3♥-Q, giving Libson 2 pair - but unfortunately it just wasn't good enough, and Ly tripped him out with nines.
Libson is the first elimination of the day and will take one $5,504.
James Dankelberger Doubles Through Eric Lynch
After seeing a flop of Q♥ 9♦ 4♥, JD got all-in after Lynch bet. Lynch called, with A-J-J-5, and JD showed a better hanbd - A-K-K-2. The turn and river were T♥ 7♠, and JD doubled up through Eric.
Johnny Chan's late arrival doesn't seem to have done him any good - here are some early misfortunes that have stroked the man's luck:
Mark Davis Doubes Through J. Chan
The flop was T♦ 9♥ 5♣, and Mark Davis raised it up, only to be called all-in by Johnny. MD agreed to it, and showed that he'd flopped 2 pair with K-Q-T-5. The turn and river did nothing for Johnny, and Davis doubled up.
Andy Wins A Pot
Early in the day, Andy Black was in a 2-handed play with Johnny, and the board was A-T-9-T-6. Black had trip tens, with a hand of A-Q-T-6 - Johnny couldn't beat it, and Andy Black took down the pot.
