Great Saro for Sanford
It's over! After folding the blinds to Saro Getzoyan for a number of hands, Geoff Sanford finally made a move, with a pre-flop raise. Saro called to see the J
8
4
flop, which he bet. Sanford raised, Saro re-raised to put him all-in and Geoff called, showing 9
8
for middle pair.
Saro flipped up Q
J
for top pair and the anxious crowd pressed close. Q
came on the turn to give Getzoyan two pair; and the river the 7
. The tight crowd erupted in applause and Saro Getzoyan took the bracelet.
Geoff Sanford took $200,511 and second place while Getzoyan -- immediately on the phone to make a flight home in time for work the next day -- took the top prize of $333,379. The players shook hands and posed for photographs before the emotional crowd.

Heads Up Hijinx

What started as a commanding chip lead by Saro Getzoyan has turned into a fairly even match. First, after a three-bet flop, Geoff Sanford bet into the K-Q-8. Saro Getzoyan called to see the turned 2, then bet into Sanford's check-call for the river 7.
Both players checked and Sanford showed A-8 to take down one of the biggest pots of the night.
Earlier, Saro took a sizeable stack when a capped pre-flop brought 7-J-J. Sanford bet and Saro called for the turn and river 4-2; finally, Sanford check-called a bet from Getzoyan, who showed pocket tens to take it over Geoff's A-Q.
The chips are moving back and forth like lunar tides on speed. That's fast.
