Phil Hellmuth: The One-Upper

Eleven!
Booyakasha!
After taking down what Hellmuth called, "the most painless victory of all eleven bracelets," Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan joined him at center stage for the bracelet presentation. Nothing but kind words and congratulations were exchanged between the three with each of them agreeing that Phil's victory here would spur the group on to bigger and better achievements. So big it up for Mr. Phil Hellmuth, all-time WSOP bracelet leader!

Philacheck's Out

Put It Up!
Winnar.

In the final hand of the match, Andy Philacheck shoves holding A T and Hellmuth makes the call with A 3. In bad shape going to the flop, Phil is looking to spike a trey, the wheel or some kind of four-carded miracle.

Perhaps the dealer was aware of the significance of the next five cards off the deck since he dealt the flop 9 4 3, giving Hellmuth the lead with a pair of threes. Phil had to dodge a ten or running clubs and after the board finished out Q J it was all over. Andy Philacheck is out in second for $394,594 and Phil Hellmuth has his eleventh bracelet!

Clements Crashes - Scott Clements Eliminated 5th ($112,997)

Phil Hellmuth has just knocked out one of his biggest competitors, Scott Clements, at the final table. It was an epic hand and it played out like this:

Clements moves all-in for $750,000 and action folds to Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth thinks for a long while and eventually calls. Surprisingly Clements flips over A 5 which is thoroughly dominated by Hellmuth's A 10.

The flops comes Q 10 9 and Hellmuth is now firmly in the lead with a pair of 10s. The turn comes 8, which doesn't help Clements and the final card is 5.

Hellmuth can practically smell the bracelet now, folks.

Exciting Action!

David Simon is done. Simon got involved in a pot with Rick Fuller and this is how the action went down:

Simon pushes all-in with 10-10 and Fuller calls with A Q. The flop comes J K A and Simon is in trouble. The turn comes 3 giving Simon no help. The river comes 2. Simon is out and Fuller's stack grows even bigger. Also, Hellmuth is one player closer to his 11th bracelet.

Soulier Knocked Out in 7th ($64,570)

In a monster three-way pot Fabrice Soulier has been eliminated, David Simon has tripled up and Phil Hellmuth has lost a substantial amount of his chips. Here's how it happenened.

Soulier pushes all-in with Q 4 and was called by David Simon with A J and Phil Hellmuth with A K. It looks like Hellmuth will have a good chance to knock out two players in one hand. The flop comes 4 10 5, however, giving Soulier a pair of fours. In a turn of events the turn comes J giving Simon a better pair. The final card is J giving Simon a set. See ya later Soulier!

Ut Nguyen Eliminated in 8th ($48,427)

It's all over Ut Nguyen. Here's how the devastating (for Nguyen) hand occured:

Ut Nguyen has K Q and pushes all-in for $325,000 in chips. Scott Clements thinks for awhile but eventually calls with Q 10. The flop comes 2-2-2 meaning Nguyen is still in the lead. The turn comes 9 changing neither players hands but the river comes 10 which spells disaster for Nguyen. Clements gets the full house and Nguyen gets eliminated.

Taylor Douglas Eliminated 9th ($38,025)

While Phil Hellmuth may still get his 11th bracelet it's certain the Taylor Douglas will not get his first. Here's what transpired in the hand that lead to his demise:

Douglas pushes all-in and Scott Clements calls. Douglas shows Q 10 and Clements flips over K Q. Douglas needs help from the board and doesn't get it from the flop which is 6 5 4. The turn gives Douglas no help either when it comes A and finally the river comes 6 giving Douglas a one-way ticket to the door.

Coverage Delayed

Because tournament organizers have placed the Event 15 final table in the infamous "tent," inside the Amazon Room coverage will be delayed to at least 3:30 p.m. Ironic that Hellmuth's 11th bracelet could be won when nobody is watching. Don't fret, PokerListings.com will camp out if they have to. We're getting updates for the poker faithful.
