Event 13, World Championship Pot Limit Hold'em - Live Updates
Day 3 Live Updates
Over!
5 years agoAllen Cunningham has taken down the $5,000 World Championship Pot Limit Hold'em event at the 2007 World Series of Poker.
Heads-up with Jeffrey Lisandro, Cunningham took down a $1 million pot when he limp-called and then check-called the flop of 7♥ 6♣ 3♦. When Lisandro checked the 5♠ turn, Cunningham bet out $300,000 and took down the pot to give himself a more than 3:1 chip advantage.
A few hands later, Lisandro raised to $165,000 on the button and Cunningham re-upped to $495,000. Lisandro came over the top all-in for his last $400,000 and Cunningham called, showing K♣ 9♥ to Lisandro's pocket queens. The flop came A♠ 8♥ 3♠ as the tension mounted and the crowd got on their feet. The turn was the K♥ and the crowd cheered wildly as Cunningham took the lead. The river card was the 7♦, giving Cunningham his fifth WSOP bracelet and $487,287.
For second place, Jeffrey Lisandro earns $294,260. Congratulations to both finalists and to the WSOP for finally producing a marquee heads-up match.
Trading Jabs!
5 years agoBack from dinner this heavyweight heads up battle has started out slow with both players picking up the blinds and one big pot chopped up.
Making it $120,000 to go pre flop, Allen Cunningham was called by Jeff Lisandro and the flop came down K♠ 7♥ 2♦.
Cunningham bet out $150,000 and Lisandro made the call. The Q♠ turn was checked down as was the 2♥ river. Cunningham felted the 7♠ 6♠ and Lisandro showed the 7♦ 6♣ for a chopped pot.
As they continue to move back and forth, the blinds are going up and right now both players have around $2 million in chips.

Sharked!
5 years agoHumberto Brenes didn't last very long with the shortstack and we head to heads up with his exit in third.
Brenes moved all in with 10♥ 9♣, but got the call from Allen Cunningham sitting on A♣ Q♥. the flop came Q♠ 8♥ 2♠ giving Brenes some gutshot straight draw hope, but that ended when the 7♣ turn and 4♦ river gave him little help.
Consolation: $197,348 for third - Plus, he gets to keep his shark.
The players are now on a 90-minute dinner break and will come back heads up.
Cunningham has around $300,000 more than Jeff Lisandro with around $4 million in play. You do the math, PokerListings.com is getting stoked to watch some serious poker as we're going to have a big name bracelet winner for the first time at the 2007 WSOP!
2-4-1 Special!
5 years agoJeff Lisandro busted not one, but two players out of the final table when his Q♠ Q♦ held up against Joe Patrick's 7♦ 7♥ and Jason Lester's A♦ K♠.
The money got in pre flop and a board of J♣ J♥ 9♥ 6♠ 6♦ was enough to keep the ladies in front.
Shortstacked, Patrick will go home fifth and pick up $99,142. Lester takes fourth and $132,813.
Now three handed, Jeff Lisandro has a slight lead on Allen Cunningham and Humberto Brenes is the short stack.
Lester Doubles Up!
5 years agoMontreal native Jason Lester staved off elimination doubling through Joe Patrick when his A♥ J♥ rivered a pair of Jacks.
Patrick made it $435,000 total on the button pre flop and Lester called all-in with his remaining $290,000.
Patrick held the lead with a pair of nines, but he couldn't keep it on the final board reading 10♠ 5♦ 2♣ 2♦ J♠.
Looks like Joe is inching closer to the rail with only around $280,000 left. Allen Cunningham has vaulted into the lead sitting on $1.6 million.
Rice Busts Out Sixth!
5 years agoAfter Allen Cunningham bet out $100,000 on a flop of K♦ 4♥ A♥, Travis Rice pushed his remaining $385,000 in the pot.
Cunningham called in a heartbeat, flipping over the A♠ J♠. Rice's K♠ 7♠ got no help from the Q♦ turn or the 9♣ river and he's headed to the rail.
It'll be a soft landing though, with $78,565 to soften the blow.
Five left and the huge pot just about ties Cunningham with Jeff Lisandro for the chip lead at around $1.2 million each.
Griffin Gone!
5 years agoGavin Griffin is gone and he'll take his pink mowhawk (worn to raise awareness for Breast Cancer) with him.
After Jeff Lisandro limped UTG, Griffin made it $120,000 from the small blind. It folded around to Lisandro and he called.
On a flop of Q♠ 9♦ 2♦ Griffin pushed all in and was instacalled by Lisandro with K♦ J♦. Grifin flipped over the A♦ 10♠ but the J♠ put him behind on the turn and the 8♦ ended his day giving Lisandro the flush.
He'll cash $58,924 for seventh.
Blinds Up!
5 years agoThe Blinds are up and so is Chip Boss Jeff Lisandro's stack!
After limping in, Lisandro's $40,000 bet on a flop of K♣ J♣ 9♠ was enough to take Joe Patrick's $30,000 big blind.
Two hands later, Lisandro picked up the blinds again making it $60,000 to go pre flop.
He's sitting on more than $1.1 million now.
Jet Grounded!
5 years agoApologies for the delays, but we've got Internet problems at the Rio today.
Keith Lehr "Jet" ran into a few problems at the final table today as well. His 10-10 was way behind against Jeff Lisandro's Q-Q and unfortunately, all his chips went in the middle.
No Help from the board and Keith will pick up $43,959 for eight place.
With over $1 million in chips Lisandro is running really good and has to be the favourite at this point.
Jaffray Gone!
5 years agoAlan Jaffray is the first player gone. Jaffray folded for about an hour before picking up A-J on the button. He raised, but Gavin Griffin came over the top in the BB forcing Jaffray to put all his chips in the middle to call.
He did, Gavin showed K-K and when the board came up blanks Jaffray's day was done. Too bad - that hat was really nice. He'll cash $31,800 for ninth.
That's a lot of pretty hats Alan - enjoy!
Brenes Doubles Up!
5 years agoHumberto Brenes managed to double up going all in pre flop with Cowboys against Keith Lehr's Johnnies.
The move brought Brenes up to more than $300,000 in chips and counting. The Costa Rican is quickly becoming a force at the table and an entertaining force at that!
The Cards Are in the Air!
5 years agoThe shuffle up and deal call just went up and the action was not far behind.
In the first hand of this final table Humberto Brenes made it $56,000 to go from the cut off, but Kieth Lehr "Jet" went over the top going all in with around $190,000 on the button.
Humberto put on quite a show by standing up, turning his visor backwards and chatting with Lehr a little before laying it down.
The fun has definitely begun!
test
5 years agoAre You Ready For Some Poker??
5 years agoIt's final table time and this is a good one. Gavin Griffin is a WSOP Bracelet winner as are Jason Lester and Keith Lehr - But it gets better!
Humberto Brenes and Allen Cunningham are multiple bracelet winners. Jeff Lisandro finished 17th in the 2006 Main Even and Allan Jaffray, Travis Rice and Joe Patrick have all been around the block a time or two.
It should be sweet and they get it crackin' in a few so stick with PokerListings.com for all the action.
