The tournament has ended

We experienced some problems with the live reports and apoloigize for not delivering a complete report. This has now been taken care of and we will be able to cover all other events to the end. The results for this tournament will be published shortly.
Rumour say they might break the tournament and play it out tomorrow
7 years ago
I just spoke to a source who revealed to me that they are considering breaking the tournament early and continue tomorrow. If they don't, this might go on for another 6 hrs or so.
Down to 4 tables and 36 players
Level 9 just started and with 36 players left it will probably be another 2 levels or so before we are down to the final table. It is going to be a loong night. Crowds of people are starting to gather around the final 4 tables and the players are looking very focused and tense.
The lines are long outside the Rio poker room
7 years ago
Although there are only 6 tables left playing in the tournament, the Rio poker room (with more than 200 tables) is still packed with players, satellite tables, and ring games. It is truly every poker players dream to be here and the lines for player registration as well as tournament registration prove it. One should really consider buying in online at http://register.worldseriesofpoker.com/browse.aspx.
Down to 7 tables and 63 players
We are 30 min into level 8 and there are now only 63 players left out of the 662 that started the day. The total amount of chips in play is therefore $662,000 as all players started with $1,000 and this is a freeze out tournament meaning no one can buy in again. The prize money starts at 63 and players between 55-63 will receive $596 for their efforts. First place pays $83,412, second place $43,916, and third $23,832. The total prize pool is $297,000.
Start of level 6 and 143 players left
There are 13 tables running and 143 players left out of the 600+ hopeful players that started about 6 hrs ago. I expect the final table to start around 9 pm or 10 pm. We will be there to cover it live down to the moment we have the first winner of the 2005 WSOP. Looks like the winner will end up with $80,000-$90,000, the staff here do not know for sure as of date.
Level 4 and an interview with youngest ever WSOP winner Gavin Griffin
7 years ago
The players are now about 10 minutes into level 4. The field is still huge and I would estimate that 80%-90% of the players who started are still in it. Also I managed squeeze in an interview with the youngest ever WSOP winner the 23 year old Gavin Griffin. This interview will be published shortly.
