Mclean Karr
No Karr accidents here!

Yesterday Mclean Karr was the shortest stack of the field with 10 big blinds. Today Mclean Karr is a WPT Champion.

First Karr successfully battled back into the chip lead against Andy Seth and just minutes ago was finally able to land the knockout blow.

In the final hand Seth bet 210,000 and Karr raised to 585,000. Seth moved all-in and Karr decided to make the call. The players revealed their hands:

Mclean Karr: 8 8

Andy Seth: 4 4

At this point the excited San Jose fans started chanting, "Big Mac! Big Mac!" in support of Karr.

Karr looked nervous as he'd already gotten it in good once before against Seth but ended up the loser.

The board ran out K T 3 A... A!

The crowd went wild as Karr had secured the title. He will receive $878,500 and a $25,000 seat into the WPT Championship for winning the Bay 101 Shooting Star.

Meanwhile Seth takes a consolation prize of $521,200. Keep in mind that Seth was able to also knockout four bounties along the way, including Phil Hellmuth, so he won a bonus $20,000.

Thanks for tuning into our coverage and be sure to join as at the next major poker event.

Karr Surrenders Chip Lead

Mclean Karr
Down but not out.

It's been an epic struggle between Andy Seth and Mclean Karr and Seth has finally pulled into the lead.

It all went down in two hands, each without a showdown.

In the first Seth bet 200k and Karr raised to 500k. Seth shoved and Karr looked frustrated by the move.

Karr finally laid it down.

Several hands later Karr bet 160,000 pre-flop and Seth called.

The flop came K Q 6 and Seth checked. Karr responded by betting 200k.

Seth called and the turn came J. Seth checked and Karr followed suit this time.

The river came 4 and Seth, perhaps sensing weakness, bet 420,000.

It didn't take long for Karr to throw his cards into the muck.

After that hand the chip stacks were:

Mclean Karr - 3.2 million
Andy Seth - 3.4 million

Seth Doubles Through

Andy Seth
Does not want to go home yet.

What started as a battle is turning into all out war between Andy Seth and Mclean Karr.

Seth was finally able to find the pivotal double up he was looking for.

In the hand Seth shoved with a modest J 9 and Mclean Karr called with A 4.

Karr had a slight lead and it looked like this tournament might be over in a matter of seconds.

The cards had other ideas as the flop came J 9 4 giving Seth two-pair. The turn changed nothing when it came 6 and the river sealed the deal with the 3.

Here are the updated chip counts:

Mclean Karr - 4.5 million
Andy Seth - 2.1 million

Karr Can’t Find Knockout Punch

Mclean Karr
Mclean Karr is dating Maria Ho. True story.

Mclean Karr has come close here at the Bay 101 Shooting Star but he can't seem to lay the hammer down on Andy Seth.

Karr won the first five consecutive hands of heads-up but since then Seth has managed to climb back into it.

There were a few all-in calls from both players but no calls and no huge pots as of yet.

Perhaps it's fitting that Seth, who knocked out four bounties here at Bay 101, would be very hard to bust.

Currently the stacks are close to where we started with a slight decrease in Andy Seth's stack.

Mclean Karr - 5.4 million
Andy Seth - 1.2 million

Karr Runs Over O’Brien

Dan O'Brien
The Dan O'Brien Show gets cancelled.

Dan O'Brien has played one hell of a tournament but he will go no further than third place.

O'Brien lost one large hand to Karr where he made a huge fold and was never really able to recover.

In his definitive hand O'Brien open-shoved and got a fold out of Andy Seth but Karr felt he had to make the call.

Once again Karr had 7 7, only this time he made the right decision as O'Brien showed a modest J 2.

The board ran out 5 5 3 T 8 and that was enough to eliminate the New Yorker.

O'Brien will pick up $295,000 in his first appearance at a WPT final table.

After Dan's elimination the crowd seems fully on Mclean Karr's side and was last heard chanting, "Big Mac! Big Mac!"

Here's a look at the chip stacks as we go into heads-up play:

Mclean Karr - 4.8 million
Andy Seth - 1.7 million

Andy Seth Doubles Through Mclean Karr

Andy Seth
The comeback kid?

It ain't over yet folks.

Andy Seth opened for a standard raise and Mclean Karr re-raised 365,000.

Seth announced he was all-in for about 700,000 more and that sent Karr deep into the tank.

"I think I have to call," said Mclean.

Eventually Mclean called and showed 7 7. Seth had him dominated with T T.

The board runs out Q 8 6 9 2 and that's enough to sustain Seth's life in this tournament.

After the hand Seth was up to 2.2 million while Karr fell back down to 2.9 million.

Andy Seth Cripples Dan O’Brien

Andy Seth
Likes ladies. Lots of them.

Dan O'Brien is suddenly in dire straits as Andy Seth won a huge pot off him

In the hand O'Brien opened for 95,000 and Seth called.

The flop came Q Q 9 and both players checked and the turn came 4. Seth bet out 165,000 and O'Brien made the call.

The river finished 7 and Seth bet 225,000.

O'Brien called and Seth promptly showed him Q J for trip queens, which prompted O'Brien to muck.

After the hand O'Brien was beat down to about 600,000.

Karr Smashes Habib

Hasan Habib
Hasan Habib in happier times.

The most experienced player at the final table has been evicted.

Hasan Habib entered the day as one of the short stacks and despite making moves all day he was unable to avoid elimination.

In the hand Mclean Karr opened for 75,000 and Hasan Habib called from the big blind.

The flop came J 2 2 and Habib checks. Karr bets 115,000 and Habib check-raises to 300,000.

Karr thinks for a half a minute and then announces he is all-in.

Habib thinks for about and then decides he has to make the call.

Habib tables K T for a flush draw while Karr shows 4 2 for trip deuces.

The turn came J, which gave Karr the boat and meant the best Habib could hope for was a split-pot with a jack on the river.

Instead the river came 4 giving Habib a dominated flush and Karr another full house.

Habib will receive $234,000 for coming in fourth place.

How About We Just Chop?

Hasan Habib
Nice chops.

For the second time today Hasan Habib has survived an all-in with a split pot.

In the hand Dan O'Brien bet 75,000 and both Hasan Habib and Andy Seth called.

The flop came 9 5 4 and O'Brien bet, Habib raised and Seth got out of the way.

O'Brien thought for a minute and then announced he was all-in.

Habib pretty much snap-called and flipped over A 9.

O'Brien sighed and flipped over A 9.

The board finished with the T and then the K and we have ourselves another chop pot.

Andy Seth Dispatches Matt Keikoan

Matt Keikoan
Matt Keikoan says goodbye.

Short-stack Matt Keikoan has been shoving frequently tonight and it's finally caught up with the Californian pro.

Keikoan open-shoved for his final 380,000 and Dan O'Brien contemplated a call. Finally O'Brien folded but Andy Seth snap-called.

The players revealed their hands:

Keikoan: A 7

Seth: 9 9

The room was buzzing as the dealer prepared to put out the board.

The flop was a riveting 8 6 4, which gave Keikoan a gut-shot straight draw.

The turn came T, which gave Keikoan a double-gut shot straight draw but it also gave Seth a flush draw.

The river fell... A!

Keikoan makes top-pair but it's no good as Seth makes the nut-flush.

Keikoan finishes in fifth place for $175,000.

O’Brien vs. Seth

Dan O'Brien
Welcome to the Late Show with Dan O'Brien.

Former chip leader Andy Seth is feeling some serious pressure from the rest of the players at the final table.

In a recent hand O'Brien bet 55,000 from the button and Seth called from the big blind.

Both players checked all the way down an A K T 7 Q board with O'Brien finally betting out 72,000 on the river.

Seth wasn't going anywhere, however, and bet out 150,000.

O'Brien went deep into the tank and contemplated his decision. He finally called and Seth could only muster 9 8 for nine-high. O'Brien had A-Q and that was enough to win the pot.

With the pot, O'Brien moved into the 2 million chip club.

Karr Races to the Lead

Mclean Karr
Your new chip leader.

Mclean Karr has overtaken Andy Seth as the chip leader.

Karr won a number of hands to become the chip leader but none was more important than one against Seth.

In the hand Karr bet 46,000 from the cutoff and Seth called.

The flop came 9 4 2 and Seth bet 63,000.

Karr called and that brought the Q, which prompted a 133,000 bet from Seth. Karr re-raised to 290,000 and Seth thought for a few minutes before making the call.

The river card came A and Seth finally slowed down with a check. Karr put in a 472,000 bet and that was enough to chase Seth from the pot and give Karr a monster pot.

After the hand Karr had 2.1 million.

Dan O'Brien takes on Andy Seth.

Just a few hands after the Hellmuth bustout, Seth had another player hanging by a thread.

This time it was Dan O'Brien all in with A Q against Seth's black jacks.

The T 9 7 flop left O'Brien on the hook, and although the Q turn put him ahead, it also gave Seth an open-ender.

Finally, the T river fell and O'Brien doubled into contention chipping away at Seth's lead.

Hellmuth Out First in Shocking Upset!

Phil Hellmuth
Disaster for Phil Hellmuth.

Phil Hellmuth, the biggest story at this final table, will have to wait another day for his first WPT title.

Hellmuth had a disastrous start to his day at the final table and has been bleeding chips pretty much since the chips went into the air.

He also had a battle going with chip leader Andy Seth that he couldn't seem to let go.

The 11-time bracelet winner completed the small blind and then Seth bet 80,000 from the big blind. Hellmuth raised to 280,000 and Seth moved all-in.

Hellmuth thought for a minute and then said, "I call."

Hellmuth was likely relieved to see he got it in good with Q Q against Seth's A J but very concerned about the ace.

The flop came K 6 5 and Hellmuth was still firmly in the lead. The turn came T and Seth picked up a two more outs to eliminate the Poker Brat with a straight.

The river came... A!

Hellmuth is utterly shocked and collapses to the floor to lament his poor fortunate. Hellmuth eventually moves to the corner of the room and curls up in a ball with his hands over his head.

This goes out for a good five minutes while the rest of the players at the final table keep looking back and forth at each other wondering what to do.

It's more of an afterthought at this point but Hellmuth is the final Shooting Star and Seth will receive a $5,000 bonus and an autographed t-shirt.

Eventually Hellmuth is convinced to get up and sign Seth's shirt before he heads for the exit.

Hellmuth, who finished sixth in the 2008 LAPC, is once again the first elimination at a WPT final table. He adds $117,00 to his tournament resume for coming in sixth.

After the hand Seth was up to nearly 3 million chips.

Chop Pot for Hasan Habib and Andy Seth

Hasan Habib
Wait, you have jacks too?

We just had an exciting standoff with an altogether anti-climatic conclusion.

Hasan Habib and Andy Seth got involved in a raising war pre-flop that saw Hasan bet 130,000, Seth raise to 200,000 and Habib shoved.

Seth tanked for a few minutes but then called. The cards?

Habib: J J

Seth: J J

Both players laughed at what was almost guaranteed to be a split pot. It was indeed a chop pot, despite two clubs on the flop.

Hellmuth Takes a Hit from Mclean

Mclean Karr
Welcome to the party, pal.

The final table has not started the way Phil Hellmuth wanted.

Mclean just scooped a large pot from the UB poker pro.

Hellmuth bet 36,000 from the cutoff and Seth called from the button and Mclean called from the big blind.

The flop came Q Q 2 and Mclean checked, Hellmuth bet 50,000, Seth folded, Mclean called.

The turn came 9 and Mclean once again checked but Hellmuth bet 90,000.

The K peeled off the deck as the river and Hellmuth bet 100,000.

Mclean went deep into the tank pondering his decision but eventually made the call showing Q-J for trip ladies.

Hellmuth said, "I got nothing," and threw his cards in the muck.

Mclean moves up to 1.2 million while Hellmuth falls to 800,000.

It turns out Andy Seth is human.

In a recent hand experienced tournament player Matt Keikoan bet 38,000 pre-flop and Seth called.

The flop came K Q 7 and both players checked.

The river came 7 and Seth decided to fire out a bet of 68,000. Keikoan, who only had about 200k left behind, decided to make the call.

The river finished with the 5 and Seth bet 42,000.

Keikoan called and Seth showed him K-T for top pair. Keikoan, however, had A-K for a better top-pair. The crowd gives the charismatic Keikoan a hearty cheer.

Unstoppable Andy Seth?

Andy Seth has good reason to smile.

The story of the 2010 Bay 101 Shooting Star might be Phil Hellmuth but it's young online pro Andy Seth who is putting on a show.

Seth has won three of the biggest pots in the early stages, two against Hellmuth and one against Mclean Karr.

In the biggest pot Hasan Habib bet 41,000, Hellmuth raised to 170,000 and Seth moved all-in. Habib folded and Hellmuth went into the tank.

Eventually Hellmuth folded and Seth scooped the pot.

Shooting Star Final Table: Can Hellmuth Do It?

Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth's tournament to lose?

For years the lack of a WPT title has stood as a blemish on the tournament record of Phil Hellmuth but he's getting a chance to rectify that today.

Hellmuth enters the final table of the 2010 Bay 101 Shooting Star second in chips with 1.4 million in chips and a serious vendetta against chip leader Andy "BKiCe" Seth, who has 2.1 million chips.

Hellmuth has made three WPT final tables but the closest he's come to a title was a third place finish at the 2003 World Poker Finals at Foxwoods.

The Poker Brat isn't the only compelling story, however, as Seth has won thousands online, Hasan Habib is a veteran poker player with three WPT final tables, Dan O'Brien has over $600,000 in live tournament winnings and Matt Keikoan has already won a WSOP bracelet and a WSOPC ring.

Finally Mclean Karr started day 3 with 30,000 chips, good enough for 10 big blinds, and built that stack into over one million chips by the end of the day.

It should be a fantastic final table as the frenzied San Jose crowd gets a chance to witness Hellmuth's journey to a potential WPT title.

Here are the chip counts to get you started:

Andy Seth - 2,164,000
Phil Hellmuth - 1,433,000
Dan O'Brien - 1,129,00
