ElkY Wins!

Bertrand Grospellier
Festa champ!

Nam Le picked up another big hand heads up but this time Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand Grospellier could not be beat.

The money went in the middle with Nam holding A Q and ElkY on pocket tens. The Le loving crowd was screaming for an ace, but when the flop fell 10 7 6 making Grospellier a set it looked all but over.

The 9 turn gave Nam a chance to chop with an eight, but the K river ended the tournament.

Nam grabs $943,215 for second while Grospellier takes all the glory of a WPT title and the $1,411,015 first place prize.

We'll put up our signature recap of ElkY's big win over here before the night is through.

The Long Climb Back

Nam Le

Nam Le has started the long climb back to contention with two quick doubles on the first two hands heads up.

He shoved, Bertrand Grospellier called and his A J beat ElkY's Q 3 on a 10 9 8 4 5 board.

Grospellier shoved the very next hand and Nam made the call with 2 2. ElkY's two overs were the 6 3, but Nam doubled when the A 8 A K Q board ran out.

He's on almost $4 million now.

Dardon Dumped (3rd)

Osmin Dardon
Oddie out!
Facing a $330k raise from Bertrand Grospellier, Osmin Dardon comes over the top for $800k more.

ElkY shoves, Dardon makes the call and his A J has Grospellier's 10 2 crushed.

The flop changes things, as the 9 4 2 fall, giving ElkY a pair of dueces and Oddie the nut flush draw.

However, the 9 turn and 3 river brick out for Dardon and he's out 3rd cashing $506,245.

The girls, the cash, the chip set and the ticket to the championship are coming out as ElkY will go into heads up with $15 million to Nam Le's less than one.

Stay tuned; it could be quick.

The Nam Le Death Watch

Nam Le
It's about that time.
Nam Le leads out with $400k+ bet only to see Oddie Dardon come over the top all in.

Faced with a decision for his tournament life Nam asks how much time is left in the level.

Eventually, he aks for a count of Dardon's chips, mulls it over a bit longer and folds.

A couple hands later Bertrand Grospellier pushed him off his big blind with a small blind shove.

The same trick worked again on the next orbit and Nam was getting dangerously short until he finally made a stand.

He moved in from the button, when, but niether Oddie or ElkY called.

His big blind was stolen by Odie on the next orbit as the Nam Le death watch continues.

Elky Leads Again!

Bertrand Grospellier
PokerStar!
The players have headed off on a short TV time out but not before Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand Grospellier struck back and regained the lead from Oddie Dardon.

Grospellier raised from the button to $360,000 and Oddie made the call. The flop came 9 5 3 and both checked. However, the K turn brought a $460,000 bet from Grospellier following a Dardon check.

He called, the river came the 7 and after another Dardon check, Grospellier bet $960,000.

Dardon called, but ElkY showed K-4 to win the pot and the chip lead.

Oddie Leads!

Osmin Dardon
Meet the new boss.
Another million chips has gone from Bertrand Grospellier over to Osmin Dardon and he's the new chip leader.

Oddie made it $400k from the button and ElkY called from the small blind.

Nam Le folded and the flop fell A Q 5. Both players checked and they did it again on the 7 turn.

The river came the 7 and Grospellier took a rather small $160k stab at it.

Oddie made it $700k more and ElkY called.

Oddie flashed A-10 and it was good enough to scoop the pot and the chip lead.

Bertrand Bleeds

Bertrand Grospellier
Under attack.
Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand Grospellier is bleeding chips and Osmin Dardon is more than happy to take them.

ElkY made it $360k from the button moments ago and Oddie called from the big blind.

Oddie checked the Q 7 3 flop, but when Grospellier bet $460,000, he check-raised it upstairs another $1.4 million.

Grospelleir folded and while Oddie is now close to $6 million, Bertrand falls to under $8 million.

Nam Le suts threateningly behind with $3.2 million.

It's Raining Elk

Bertrand Grospellier
Back in the saddle again.
Bertrand Grospellier is pwning Osmin Dardon right now.

He took more than one million chips off of him slow playing jacks until the river, then getting Dardon to pay him off.

A few hands later Grospellier sniffed out an Odie Dardon bluff, calling a $550k post flop bet then shoving into a $1.4 million turn bet on a 10 10 2 2 board.

Oddie folded and the Team PokerStars Pro showed some kind of bluff that turned out to be better garbage than Dardon was playing anyway.

ElkY is now back on close to $12 million while Dardon slips to around $3 million. Nam Le has just over $2 million

Ode to the D.
One hand after going runner-runner in a checked down pot and to hit the nut flush and take half a million chips from Bertrand Grospelleir, Osmin "Oddie" Dardon completes from the small blind.

ElkY decides to make it $550,000 more and after a minute Oddie speaks up.

"Sooner or later we gotta go home," he says. "I'm all in."

Grospellier folds, the crowd at Bellagio goes wild and Oddie shows Q-10 off.

Dardon Doubles!

Osmin Dardon
Was Odie, now Oddie.

We've had another confrontation and this time it was Osmin Dardon shoving from the small into Bertrand Grospellier's big blind.

Dardon had Q J and ElkY made the call with A 4.

The Team PokerStars Pro had the slight edge until the K J 6 flop hit Dardon. He faded an ace on the 10 turn, but Grospellier picked up a few more outs.

The 3 river wasn't one of them and Dardon doubled to $3.5 million.

Turbo Time!

Hunting elk.
In has become a turbo sit-and-go with blinds so high it's shove or fold time at Festa al Lago.

Virtually every hand sees one player shove with Bertand Grospellier doing it most of the time.

We were waiting for a big confrontation when suddenly we found one.

ElkY shoved from the small blind and Nam Le made the call. Nam had A J, but the Team PokerStars Pro had two live cards with 8 3.

The flop came Q 9 Q and Nam remained ahead.

He stayed there on the 4 turn and 6 river and doubled up to around $3 million.

Serb slapped!
Nenad Medic open shoved from the button for around one million in chips and Osmin Dardon asked for a count.

It's $1,280,000 and Dardon folds, but Bertrand Grospellier makes the call with K-J.

Nenad has sixes and the lead, but after the flop comes J 9 3, he's left drawing thin with his tournament life on the line.

The turn brings the 2 and the river is the 5 and Nenad is out 4th.

He'll cash $373,010 for his efforts while Grospellier rolls on three handed now with another $1.2 million in his massive stack.

Big Stack Poker

Schoolyard bully.
Big stack Bertrand Grospellier is pushing everyone around. First he pushed Osmin Dardon off a $1 million pot with a big turn bet then the Team PokerStars Pro open shoved his $12 million stack under the gun a few hands later.

Nenad Medic jokingly asked for a count from the small blind, but folded, as did Dardon from the big blind.

ElkY turned over the 3 2 with a smile.

He's also shoved into Nam Le's big blind from the small the last two orbits.

Adam Levy
Levy leaves.

We're down to four here at Festa after the exit of Adam Levy.

He shipped it with A 9 facing a Bertrand Grospellier raise, b ut ElkY had two queens.

The Team Pokerstars Pro made the call and the K 3 2 flop kept him in the lead. Then, like a knife to Levy's heart, the Q turned making Grospellier a set.

Roothlus was drawing dead, so the 7 river didn't matter and he headed to the cage to grab $266,445 in fifth place money.

ElkY now has $11 million and is in the driver seat.

William Macy'd.
William Mietz just became our sixth place finisher, cashing $186,510 after running into the Bertrand Grospellier machine.

The hand started with a $260k raise from ElkY that Mietz called from the big blind.

The flop came 9 7 4 and both players checked.

The turn brought the 9 and after a Mietz check, the Team PokerStars Pro bet $360,000. Mietz moved in for a little over $1 million total and ElkY looked perplexed.

Eventually he made the call with just A 10, but it had Mietz beat, as his K 10 stunk of desperation.

The river came the 9, Grospellier added a few more chips to ElkY mountain and we are down to five.

It was A 9 for ElkY and it looked like an easy fade for Le's A K. The flop came 7 5 3, but when the turn brought the 8 Elky picked up a gutshot and a club draw.

Slippin' and a slidin'.
In the first real action of the day Bertrand Grospellier has added to his lead courtesy of Nam Le, who showed up just in time for the final skipping the photo shoot before.

ElkY raised it up to $275k from the small blind and Nam protected his big.

The flop came T T 3 and Grospellier led out making it $335,000.

Le slowly made the call and the 8 turn was revealed.

ElkY checked, but Le did not, betting $400,000 into the growing pot.Grospellier flatted and the 2 came down on the river.

Both players checked and Grospellier's A 8 forced a Le muck.

Le's slide continued when he raised it up to $265,000 a hand or two later then folded to an Adam Levy shove.

Welcome to PL.com's balling coverage of the WPT Season 7 Festa al Lago main event.

We've got a good one for you here with Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand Grospellier coming in on top and WPT and WSOP winner Nenad Medic not too far behind.

This is also Nam Le's unbelievable fifth WPT final table and he'll come in looking to book another win.

Osmin "Odie" Dardon is following up a WSOP final table this past summer with an appearance here while Will Mietz will be looking to make a name for himself with a big splash today at Bellagio.

The short stack is Adam "Roothlus" Levy, who narrowly missed another final table at WPT Niagara last year and can definitely hang with the big boys.

They'll throw the cards in the air in just a few minutes with blinds so high it could happen fast.

Keep it locked on PL.com all day to watch it all unravel. You know you want it and we know we got it.
