EPT London: 40 Players Left, Iacafono New Leader
We’re nearing the end of the second level of the day here at the EPT London main event and just 40 players are still in it with a shot at the £750,000 first-place prize.
In addition to losing 22 players already this afternoon we have a brand new chip leader in American Kevin Iacofano. He’s followed closely by the UK’s Neil Pearce.
Click here for updated chip counts.
The plan for today calls for play to continue until just 24 players remain, all of whom will return tomorrow with a shot at making Thursday’s final table.
Right now keep reading for a look at the leaderboard and highlights from the afternoon thus far.
Ana Marquez Eliminated
Recent Team PokerStars Pro addition Ana Marquez as been eliminated. Her last hand began with one limper and a shove from Marquez for around 140k. It folded to Hugo Loureiro who called with pocket tens which were ahead of Marquez’s A-8.
The board ran out with no help to the Marquez and she was done.
Rettenmaier Relegated to Rail
Things were looking up for Germany’s Marvin Rettenmaier when he scored a much needed double-up earlier this level. He called all-in when Andries Swart four-bet him preflop and saw he was in good shape with A-8 against A-2.
After that hand Rettenmaier was up to almost 500k, but it wouldn’t last long.
Not long after, he picked up A-K and was more than happy to get it all-in preflop. The only problem was that his Basile Yaiche was holding pocket aces. The bullets proved to be Rettenmaier’s undoing and he’s out.

62 players remain at the 2011 PokerStars.com EPT London main event and by the time we're done for the day just three tables of eight will be left.
As you may have read yesterday, 2010 Irish Open champion James Mitchell is in the lead and he's the only player with more than 1 million chips. He's followed by Sam Macdonald who's on 860,000.
