The Ladbrokes European Online Championship of Poker III kicks off today and with more than $1 million guaranteed it's sure to bring out the online players in droves.

Billed as "Europe's No. 1 online poker event," the festival takes place over seven days with several different components. With deep stacks, huge prize pools and times that are conducive to European players it's no wonder the event continues to grow.

This year - for the first time ever - Ladbrokes will be offering a $750,000 guaranteed main event with $2,500 buy-in held over two days. This will be the first time Ladbrokes has offered a two-day tournament. There will exclusive trophies for players who place well in the final.

Last year over $1.1 million was awarded during the LEOCOP II which took place Sept. 25 to Oct. 1, 2006. There were over 2,500 players took place in the finals alone, with 10,000 taking part in online satellite qualifiers.

Some of the big winners from LEOCOP II included Tragic, who won $48,581 for first place in Event 1 - $100,000 No Limit Holdem Rebuy; _Theah_, who took home $13,140 for Event 2 - Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit Freezeout; and knubbis who won Event 4 and came in second in Event 5 for a total haul of $35,000.

Of course the biggest tournament was the LEOCOP II main event. In the end Grazza outlasted 368 runners and took down the massive first-place prize of $230,000. Amazingly Grazza (real name Graeme Newman) won his way into the main event by playing in a satellite just one hour before the tournament started.
