Leah, Zinno Chase Tran for $1m w/ 12 Left in WPT LAPC Main

Mike Leah
Deep runs just keep coming for Mike Leah.

Chip leader coming into Day 4; even bigger chip leader at the end of Day 4.

That's the tale of the tape for Peter Tran as they head into Day 5 at WPT LA Poker Classic at Commerce Casino tomorrow.

Starting the day with 1.3m Tran piled up an even more substantial stack of 4,120,000 to hold 25% of the chips in play with just 12 players left.

Among those 12, however?

One of Canada's best in Mike "GoLeafsGoEh" Leah, coming off a career year in 2014, and two-time WPT champ Anthony Zinno, fresh off his second title just last month at the WPT Fallsview Classic.

With a $5,909 cash last year his previous biggest cash, Tran has his work cut out for him to hold on.

Leah, Neff, Klodnicki All Deep Stacked

0036 Chris Klodnicki
Klodnicki: Always a contender.

While Tran does have the decided edge in the playdown to the final table there's still plenty of room for the pack to reel him in.

Leah is the closest with 2.2m in chips, well over 90 BBs. Peter Neff sits third with 1.6m (70bb).

Perennial deep threat Chris Klodnicki, with $7.5m in career live earnings, also has a stack over 1m (43bb).

Zinno will return for Day 5 with the third-shortest stack at 565,000 but with his confidence high from last month could easily move up the ranks tomorrow.

He's also currently the Season XIII WPT Player of the Year points leader.

Notables to make it deep into the money today included David Sands (14th), Greg Mueller (19th), Eddy Sabat (21st), Shawn Buchanan (25th), Daniel Negreanu (35th) and Erik Seidel (41st).

The full final 12 and chip counts:

  • 1. Peter Tran 4,120,000
  • 2. Mike Leah 2,240,000
  • 3. Peter Neff 1,682,000
