LAPT begins tournament in Mexico Friday

On Friday the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour will make its first appearance in Mexico with a stop in Nuevo Vallarta.

This is the second leg of the tour for Season 2, and plenty of Team PokerStars Pros are making the trip south of the border to get in on the LAPT action.

PokerStars has confirmed that Greg Raymer, Humberto Brenes, Victor Ramdin, Andre Akkari and Alexandre Gomes de Souza Luz will all be in attendance.

All of the PokerStars pros bring with them impressive poker resumes. Raymer is a former World Series of Poker Main Event champion, plus he's accumulated more than $6 million in tournament winnings over the years.

Raymer also has quite the online poker record at PokerStars. He won a World Championship of Online Poker Pot-Limit Omaha event at the site, as well as finishing second in the Sunday Million on two separate occasions.

Brenes has been the crown jewel of South American poker players. From Costa Rica, he has two WSOP bracelets to his name plus more than $5 million in tournament winnings.

Ramdin hasn't strapped on a WSOP bracelet yet, but he's got a World Poker Tour win for more than $1.3 million. Add to that his WSOP cashes and various other WPT and major event cashes, and Ramdin has more than $2.5 million in tournament winnings.

Along with these heavy hitters, the playing field at the LAPT Nuevo Vallarta will include 75 players who won their seats through online qualifiers at PokerStars.

According to PokerStars, the current field is looking to be about 116 players, but the action doesn't get started until noon on Friday, so there's plenty of time for players to bring in their $2,700 buy-in to play.
