LAPT adds Argentina stop

How you doin?

The PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour announced it has added a stop in Argentina to cap off its second season.

The LAPT will make its way to Mar del Plata, a resort in Argentina, April 16-19 to host the Grand Final for the season. The Grand Final will be a four-day event with a $5,200 buy-in.

According to the LAPT, the event will be able to accommodate up to 600 players, and "will attract not only the best poker players in Latin America, but no doubt superstars from Europe and the U.S. will be in attendance, not to mention heavy hitters from Team PokerStars Pro."

The events hosted so far in Season 2 could be an indicator of how well the remaining two events will do.

In November, the second season kicked off in Costa Rica with 219 players showing up to play for a $977,000 prize pool.

Some of the familiar faces in the crowd included Victor Ramdin, Alexandre Gomez, Andre Akkari, Humberto Brenes, Carter Gill and others. The winner, and recipient of a $285,773 top prize, was Ryan Fee.

Recent PokerStars Pro addition Dennis Phillips and Ylon Schwartz were both spotted at the LAPT event in Chile in January. They were among the 216 players vying for a piece of the $523,800 prize pool.

This time it was Argentinian Fabian Ortiz who took home the top prize, a $141,426 payout, and became the first Latin American player to win an LAPT event.

Before the LAPT heads to Argentina for the final, it has one more stop to make. A $3,700 buy-in tournament will take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay, March 18-20.
