Lamb Edges Negreanu to Win Bellagio $25k Mix Game HR for $281k
The Aria $25k No-Limit Hold’em events are a fixture of the high-stakes community but now mix game players officially have their own event at Bellagio.
Ben Lamb narrowly defeated Daniel Negreanu heads-up to take down the first-ever $25k Mixed Game High Roller at Bellagio for $281k last night.
As you might expect the $25k buy-in tournament attracted 25 of the biggest names in poker including Negreanu, Scott Seiver, Mike Gorodinsky and former Super High Roller Bowl winner Brian Rast.
The field combined to create a tidy prize pool of $625,000.
Negreanu’s Idea Pays Off
The $25k buy-in Mix Game tournament at Bellagio was Daniel Negreanu’s idea although Brian Rast was ultimately the guy who took the idea to organizers and hammered out the exact format.
It’s the first regularly scheduled high roller tournament in Las Vegas that isn’t No-Limit Hold’em.
It’s also fitting that Bellagio hosts the event since Bobby’s Room is famous for running legendary mix game cash games.
The Mix Game tournament included HORSE, No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Hold’em, 2-7 Triple Draw and No-Limit 2-7 Lowball.
The inaugural edition of the tournament paid four spots. The final four included Negreanu and Lamb as well as Lamar Wilkinson and Alan Richardson.
Negreanu and Lamb entered heads-up nearly even in chips but Lamb nailed an all-important hand of PLO that saw him river a flush and take most of Negreanu’s chips.
Here’s a complete look at the payouts for the Bellagio $25k Mix Game:
- 1. Ben Lamb - $281,250
- 2. Daniel Negreanu - $175,000
- 3. Alan Richardson - $106,260
- 4. Lamar Wilksinson - $62,500
