Playwize announced today it has signed a development and licensing agreement with Ladbrokes International Ltd. that will bring 3-D poker to the Ladbrokes Poker site.

"We are very excited about creating a poker room for Ladbrokes that incorporates advanced 3-D technology with our exclusive features including real-time statistical calculators, interactive tutorial and live voice chat," said Foo Katan, Playwize chief executive.

"The agreement represents the first step in the company's new strategy to develop and license its online 3-D poker technology to third-party [...] rooms; the company anticipates that more similar agreements will follow."

Through the agreement, Playwize has agreed to develop and license to Ladbrokes an exclusive version of its innovative online 3-D poker for use by players on the Ladbrokes poker network.

The two-year agreement also provides for a contribution towards development costs in the form of a development fee and ongoing licensing fees under a revenue sharing arrangement with Ladbrokes.

"The Playwize 3-D software has an impressive interface that is supported by unique interactive player development content, so we firmly believe this will broaden the appeal of online poker," said Colin Cole-Johnson, Ladbrokes director of gaming.

"Importantly, the new 3-D platform is fully integrated with our existing software, so this will help us build liquidity."

Playwize Plc. had previously been mainly involved in developing games for gaming consoles such as Xbox, PS2 and Nintendo. It is now moving more into the online gaming industry with the development of its realistic 3-D environments.

After the announcement of the agreement was made, Playwize saw increased interest in its stocks on the London Stock Exchange. Its listing went up 0.25 to 1.5 pence, according to Thomas Financial News.

Along with a new 3-D look, Ladbrokes players have plenty of other poker fun to look forward to in the near future on the site. The biggest upcoming event is the annual Ladbrokes European Online Championship of Poker.

The LEOCOP is scheduled for Oct. 15-21, with a $750,000 guaranteed prize pool for the main event. Qualifications for the events have already begun.

Visit Ladbrokes Poker for more information about the LEOCOP and in the future when it goes 3-D.
