Ladbrokes Poker has announced the details of the fifth annual Poker Million tournament, hailed as "the biggest and richest event in European Poker." The televised Poker Million V will have $1 million added to the prize pool by Ladbrokes - the largest addition of prize money to any tournament in the history of poker. The total prize pool is guaranteed to reach $4,120,000, with first place receiving $1,200,000.
The prize pool will be dolled out in allotments, with $2,440,000 awarded during the televised tournament, and $168,000 through the online Weekly Final tournaments at Ladbrokes Poker.
The 71 qualifiers for the televised tournament will be determined through a range of qualification routes over a four month period. The 71 players will be invited to London in June to film their heat, while the televised Celebrity Heat will provide the 72nd player for the televised stage of Poker Million V.
The twelve heat winners will return to London in December, 2006, for the live broadcast of the Semi-Finals, which will be held on December 13 & 14. The top 3 finisher's in each of the Semi-Finals will then compete in the Live Final, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports on Friday, December 15, and be followed by the Poker Million Live Final Party.
