L.A. Poker Classic championship in play
By Erin Warner
It's Championship Day 1 at the L.A. Poker Classic and players are circling the tables for a crack at $7 million in prize money.
Today marks the beginning of the end of the tournament, which has featured 30 events starting Jan. 25 at the Commerce Casino. The main event gets underway today and wraps March 1.
As a World Poker Tour event, the championship final table will be filmed for broadcast on the Travel Channel at a later date.
Several famous poker pros are expected to front the $10,000 buy-in for the tournament, as organizers are touting a guaranteed $2 million first-place prize and $1 million guaranteed for the runner up.
PokerListings.com will be on site for the bust outs and bad beats at both the L.A. Poker Classic and the WPT Celebrity Invitational tournament immediately following.
