Johnny Chan: No sleep 'til Tribeca

By: Christopher Hunt

He's like the gift that just keeps on giving. Fresh from playing the gracious host at the inaugural Johnny Chan Poker Classic in B.C., poker icon Chan has already jetted his way east and will play a 16-seat charity poker event in New York City tonight.

The game's scheduled for 7 p.m. at John Allan's men's salon in Tribeca, New York City, with all proceeds towards charity.

Only 16 seats were available, and went to the highest bidders by 5 p.m. yesterday.

Chan, who has actually never played in New York before, is in the city to discuss his 5th Street Hotels expansion plan.

"I've been working with Johnny for over a year developing the 5th Street hotel concept," says Hotelier Liko Smith, co-creator of 5th Street Hotels. "He gives everything 110%. This game is sure to be challenging for all the players, and with the proceeds going to charity, everyone involved will come out a winner."

Attendance is by invite only.
