John Phan, Liz Lieu sign on for Asian Poker Tour Singapore

John Phan

John Phan and Liz Lieu, both originating from Vietnam, will return to Asia in November to take part in the Betfair Asian Poker Tour in Singapore. The event is expected to offer a prize pool of more than $2 million.

John Phan, also known as "The Razor," and Liz Lieu are good friends who are making names for themselves on the poker circuit.

To date, Phan has amassed nearly $3 million in tournament winnings and has placed well in tournaments around the world including World Poker Tour (WPT) events and the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Lieu has spent most of her career playing in high-stakes cash games but in the last year or so began playing in tournaments, including WPT events, the European Poker Tour, and the WSOP as well.

"It will be really interesting to follow poker's growing popularity in Asia from close range," said Lieu and Phan in a joint statement. "Asians are always good with games and that is one of the reasons why so many players of Asian origin have been so successful in the world of poker, especially in America."

Lieu and Phan's trip to Singapore could also result in help for their favorite charities. Both poker players are active in charity work and give 20% of their tournament winnings to charity. This could potentially mean $100,000 for charity if either of them wins the Asian Poker Tour sponsored by Betfair Poker.
