Jennifer Tilly, famed actress and rising poker superstar, won her second major poker tournament this past Thursday, September 1, at L.A.'s Bike Casino, beating out five female pros to take home first place at the World Poker Tour (WPT) Ladies Night III tournament.
First place prize was a $25,500 seat in the WPT World Championship, which will be held in April, 2006, at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
Now on record as the first woman player to have won both of the major World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker events for women, Tilly competed against pro players Isabelle 'No Mercy' Mercier, Marsha Waggoner, Cecelia Reyes, and Aidiliy Elviro, along with London Gallagher, winner of the Ladies Poker Party open tournament.
Earlier this summer, Tilly made history as the first Hollywood celebrity to win a World Series of Poker gold bracelet, a particularly exceptional feat considering the actress only began playing poker seriously about one year ago.
The WPT Ladies Night III tournament is scheduled to air on the Travel Channel on Saturday, October 22, at 8 p.m. (local time). The WPT and the Bike Casino will donate $10,000 to Breast Cancer Research in honor of Tilly and the other final table competitors.
