Motorsports fans and poker lovers across the nation will come together in November in an effort to generate funds for The Jeff Gordon Foundation through a series of No-Limit Hold'em tournaments.
The high-stakes series will include land-based satellite tournaments at a variety of different Harrah's venues across the country, culminating in a championship tournament, The Jeff Gordon Poker Classic, in March 2006 at Harrah's Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker will co-host the championship at Caesars Palace with Gordon.
Moneymaker has signed on as a fan of motorsports and Jeff Gordon, and hopes the series will raise awareness and funds for The Jeff Gordon Foundation, a non-profit organization that was founded by four-time Cup Series winner Jeff Gordon in order to raise money for a slew of children's charities, including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Riley Hospital for Children, The Marrow Foundation in partnership with The Hendrick Marrow Program, and the Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital at Northeast Medical Center.
Organizers are hopeful that pro players and celebrities will come out in support of the televised event, which will also provide its participants with a VIP reception and tickets to shows at Harrah's casinos.
