Japanese players in for a treat at Everest Poker

By Erin Warner

Everest Poker is looking east for its next promotion as the site gets ready to host its first-ever Japan Cup.

The exclusive event features a series of online and live qualifiers for Japanese players to compete for a prize package worth $20,000.

Live satellites - free of cost - started April 20 in the Tokyo area and the first online tournament was held April 12. Everest Poker will also host two online qualifiers each month through to August.

"That's when it gets interesting for our players," said Everest's property manager Jonathan May.

The 30 qualifying players, he said, each receive a $1,400 prize package that includes travel and an entry fee to the final live event held on Tinian Island. The winner of this event walks away with a prize package worth $20,000.

More information about the tournament can be found here.

Players who don't win at the live events are still eligible to compete in a special monthly second-chance tournament. Details on these events are available only at the live tournaments.
