Jack Binion joins Wynn Resorts board
By Sarah Polson
Jack Binion has been elected to the Wynn Resorts Board of Directors now that he has completed his pre-opening and opening assignments for the Wynn Macau.
Binion, who is the son of Benny Binion, founder of the World Series of Poker, will move on from the day-to-day operation responsibilities of the casino to a new role as a director and principal in the development team of the Macau casino's operations.
"I am so grateful to Jack for helping us open our new project in Macau," said Steve Wynn, Wynn Resorts chairman. "We look forward to his continued advice and guidance and to collaborating on further development of the company's assets in Macau."
Binion was appointed as chairman of Wynn International by Wynn Resorts in July to oversee the company's Asian operations and development. Wynn commented at the time that the company would greatly benefit from Binion's experience.
"The decades of experience and unparalleled success that Jack brings to our company is extraordinary," he said. "Jack's guidance will greatly enhance our ability to deal with the challenges that we face as a fledgling operator in China. We face our future in China with humility and great anticipation and, in the company of Mr. Binion, great confidence as well."
The Wynn Macau had its official opening Sept. 6, 2006. The casino, located in the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, features 600 deluxe hotel rooms and suites, 220 table games, 380 slot machines, seven restaurants, a spa, a salon, entertainment lounges, meeting facilities, and approximately 26,000 square feet of retail space.
