Wild Card Poker II finds first participant
By Sarah Polson
One down, 11 more to go in the selection of participants for Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker II. The first contestant was chosen Saturday by winning a poker tournament at Bodog.com.
The poker player defeated a field of 150 qualifiers to earn his spot in the show.
The tournament brought together the top five players from 30 qualifying events. While one player walked away with the coveted cast member slot in the Wild Card Poker II, other participants also got prizes.
Prizes for the top five finalists ranged from a trip for two to Antigua to a custom Bodog.com poker table and a flat screen TV.
All that remains is for the final 11 cast members to be chosen. Those wanting to participant have until Sunday to throw their names into the hat by submitting a one-minute video or a photo.
Once the selections have been made, the participants will be taken on an all-expenses paid trip to British Columbia, Canada, where they will compete in "poker infused lifestyle challenges" for a $2 million grand prize.
The show begins taping this summer and will air in the fall.
