Ivey drowns NHUPC sorrows with $152k pot

Full Tilt pro Phil Ivey helped make up for his early exit at the NBC National Heads-Up poker championship by winning a $152,000 pot against Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies last night.

Both players were eliminated in the early stages of the Championship, but neither seemed to care all that much, as they went and traded thousands of dollars back and forth on Full Tilt Poker instead.

The marquee pot of the session occurred when Ivey flopped a set and Ziigmund made a series of ill-timed bets.

The Full Tilt pro ended up scooping a very decent pot of $152,000, which had to feel better than losing to Vanessa Rousso heads-up yesterday.

It's clear why Ivey seems to prefer cash games to prestigious tournaments, as he would have had to crack the final two at NBC Heads-Up to make more than $125,000.
