IPT Venice Begins
The Venice leg of the PokerStars.IT Italian Poker Tour kicked off in the City of Water Thursday.
A total of 227 players coughed up the €2,000+€200 buy-in on Day 1a, including 35 who qualified on PokerStars.
One of those qualifiers, Loccarini Giacomo, played himself into the chip lead with 175k in chips after nine levels of play, leading the 101 players who survived the day.
Claudio Pagano, father of Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano, will be hot on Giacomo's heels when Day 2 begins Saturday, holding 145k in chips.
In the meantime, Friday's Day 1b is expected to draw another sizeable field with Team PokerStars Pro Dario Minieri and Salvatore Bonavena, and the IPT Leaderboard winner Giovanni Salvatore, all planning to hit the Venetian felt at Casino Ca' Noghera.
An ITP Venice winner will be crowned Monday.
