Review
As told in the foreword by Winning Low-Limit Hold'em author Lee Jones, Internet Poker is a book for people interested in starting to play online poker rather than for seasoned gamblers. The tips, ideas and strategies discussed in the book do not offer much in the way of new advice for the avid poker player. That said, authors Lou Krieger and Kathleen Keller Watterson have written an excellent introduction to online poker.
Internet Poker explains the basics of how to get started, lists the different games available, discusses starting hands and hand selection, and includes a great section with over 100 practice hands. The book and its accompanying CD-Rom, which features trial versions of poker analysis software, go hand-in-hand to give the beginner a firm understanding of the game, preparing him or her for the world of online poker. One of the most interesting things about this book is that it concentrates on Omaha and Seven-Card Stud, which makes it one of few books on the market for the beginner Omaha or Seven-Card Stud player.
In conclusion, for a beginner wanting to break into the online poker scene playing Omaha or Seven-Card Stud, this is an excellent book that will certainly give you the knowledge and confidence you need. If, however, you are already a seasoned player who considers the online poker world your backyard, your money would probably be better spent elsewhere.
The book consists of four main parts: "A General Overview of Internet Poker," "How To Play the Game," "The Nitty-Gritty of Playing Online," and "Legality, Security, Money Management and Records." Aside from the main sections, "Internet Poker" includes a foreword, an afterword, an explanation of the software on the accompanying CD-Rom, and an introduction to online poker.
In total, the book reads 202 pages.
