Ilari FIN Adds Another $172k
It seems nothing can slow down Ilari Sahamies as the Finnish poker pro picked up another $172k in the high stakes games last night.
Sahamies played 1,616 hands as Ilari FIN on PokerStars and despite the fact the games were slightly smaller then usual (only $50/$100) he still managed to walk away with a huge profit.
Ever since winning and then losing $1 million to Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Sahamies has been on fire and he’s now up to $893k on PokerStars in 2011. It’s a far cry from July where Sahamies was down $800k playing online poker.
Meanwhile Brian “aba20” Townsend is apparently no longer in the United States as he made an appearance in the high stakes games last night and promptly lost $94k.
The former CardRunners instructor was considered one of the best online players in the world in the early stages of his career but took a hit when he was caught multi-accounting.
He also got into trouble when he was accused of colluding with Brian Hastings and Cole South win $4.2 million from Isildur1.
Since then he’s had trouble finding the form that saw him win millions in the mid-2000s. He’s now down over $100k on PokerStars this year.
Sahamies wasn’t the only player to win big, however, as Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond managed to stop the bleeding with a $58k victory. After peaking at $500k in profit this year, Galfond was getting dangerously close to dropping down to $0 in 2011.
Instead Galfond now has a profit of $162k this year.
Some of the other big winners last night included socutiesf (+$92k), takechip (+$77k) and minoppss (+51k).
Aba20 was the biggest loser but Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane continued his extended downswing by losing $80k. Cochrane has lost nearly $1 million after peaking at $1.8 million in June.
Some of the other players to make their way into the losing column last night were Zypherin (-$84k), Sussie Smith (-$71k) and Jens “Jeans89” Kyllonen (-$70k).
