L.A. Times profiles PPA president
By Erin Warner
Since the advent of poker on the political map, the lobbyist group Poker Players Alliance has gained momentum - and more than 360,000 members - in an effort to overturn last fall's U.S. online gambling ban. The latest coup for the players-rights organization is a feature article in the L.A. Times.
The article, published Sunday in the newspaper's business section, features an interview with the PPA's outspoken president, Michael Bolcerek.
The Times hails the organization as a "political player" and calls its president a "wild card in the conservative world of chief financial officers."
Bolcerek's previous business career in the tech sector, as well as his poker history and love of the game are all detailed.
The piece also notes other PPA achievements, such as recruiting pro Howard Lederer to join its board, enlisting the help of connected former senator Alfonse D'Amato and persuading the government of California to allow charity poker.
