It's been awhile: With the cancellation of the European Poker Tour Season 3 (EPT3) event scheduled for France last month, poker players have been chomping at the bit since late January to get back to the felt. Relief has come with the sold out EPT3 Dortmund starting today, set to be the biggest event yet.
And first-time host Dortmund - Western Germany's "green metropolis," with forests, meadows, parks and gardens covering almost half of the city (and interestingly enough, also the possessor of the highest concentration of breweries in the country) - is welcoming the poker community like a long lost pal.
Casino Hohensyburg has officially thrown the doors open for the long-awaited No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament and Day 1a action is underway, set to end four days from now with the crowning of a champion and the presentation of an over-size €681,580 check to the winner.
Competition is expected to be stiff, with a gaggle of reputed pros in the field and a slew of online qualifiers ready to make a name for themselves. A hefty 500 players have contributed €5,000, to make a total prize pool of €2.35 million.

For the record: Ich bin ein Feuerhakenspieler = "I am a poker player."
