HSP 4 to be richest cash game in TV history

Phil Ivey

At times, during season three of High Stakes Poker, there was over $4 million on the poker table. And now even before the last two shows put the current season to bed, the buzz has begun for season four, with plans to make it the richest cash game ever seen on television.

The final two episodes of season three are set to air on the Game Show Network tonight and next Monday, April 9, and it's not as though they're going out with a whimper.

Legendary high-stakes cash player Phil Ivey drops in to the mix with Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari and Brad Booth, among others, to send the season off in fine style.

But the best No-Limit Hold'em cash game on television is actually set to get bigger in season four, according to an announcement from GSN's President and CEO Rich Cronin.

"We are very pleased with the success of High Stakes Poker and the tremendous buzz it has generated," Cronin said in a release.

"It is far and away the most talked about poker show. We plan on making HSP 4 the richest season yet with players bringing up to a million dollars of their own money to play in the biggest cash game on TV."

Already GSN's #1 rated show for men and adults 18-34, the expectations are high for season four's big clashes, with players set to return to the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa in Las Vegas in May to tape shows for the fall.

Encore showings of the entire third season will also start Monday, April 16, and podcasts featuring additional additional highlights, interviews and outtakes are available on GSN.com and iTunes.
