The land of 1,000 lakes will be riddled with the sound of thousands of poker chips over the next few days. The Heartland Poker Tour is kicking off the next stop of its tour Wednesday at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minn.
The event of the first day will be a satellites that will get players into a qualifier. Thursday will also have satellites into the qualifiers as well as a No-Limit Hold'em Warm-Up Tourney.
The qualifying tournaments will take place Friday and Saturday, with satellites into the qualifiers continuing on those days. The main event will take place on Sunday.
The Heartland Poker Tour has seen some big events as more and more people turn out for the poker tournaments. In Iowa nearly 800 players turned up for the qualifiers, with more than 200 entering the main event.
With their continued low buy-ins for satellites, qualifiers and even the main events, Minnesota could reach the same levels.
There are two satellites players can use to get into a qualifier. With the $40 single-table satellite, one player advances into a qualifier. In the $75 single-table satellites, two players advance.
The buy-in for the qualifiers for those who don't advance from a satellite is $300+$40. Four players will advance to the main event from each qualifier.
The main event has a $1,500+$150 buy-in.
All players must be at least 18 years old and be registered half an hour before the start of an event. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
