Review
Howard Lederer, also known as "the Professor" for his classic schooling outside the poker world, is one of the world's best poker players. He's won multiple WSOP bracelets and is well respected in the poker community. His new DVD, Howard Lederer Tells All is one of many productions promising an easy overview of No-Limit Texas Hold'em, and it actually holds up to that promise.
Howard takes on the role of narrator and dealer in the video, explaining and commenting on everything that's unfolding. The resulting DVD is impressive. The language is easy to follow, the advice is solid and every chapter links together into the next almost seamlessly. From the first chapter to the last, the DVD eases the amateur into the game and explains every step in a non-threatening, friendly way.
Howard Lederer Tells All is an excellent example of a natural on-screen personality discussing what he knows best. For the aspiring poker player, this DVD is an excellent tool best suited for casino play and a good companion for online play as well. The seasoned poker player will probably find a lot of the information too basic. But if you, like many other players, are an avid online player and lack experience in bricks-and-mortar card rooms, this production isn't a bad investment.
The DVD consists of 10 chapters:
- Introduction
- Spotting Tells
- More Tells
- No-Limit Hold'em Basic Play and Rules
- Play Before the Flop
- Knowing Outs and Knowing the Odds
- The Flop
- The Turn
- The River
- Closing Tips
The total playing time of the DVD is just over 60 minutes. The case comes with a pre-flop strategy card and poker glossary.
