Review
As the title suggests, authors Byron Jacobs and Jim Brier co-wrote How Good Is Your Limit Hold'em? to help poker players evaluate their Limit Hold'em skills and recommend improvements in specific situations. This book is about as far from entertaining as you can get, and the sole reason for reading it would be if you wanted to check your Limit Hold'em skills against a battery of smart and challenging poker hands.
Every hand in the book consists of four basic parts: introduction, play, Q&A, and analysis. The hands used to review the reader's skill level are all very well thought out and both the Q&A and the analysis components are smart and relevant. In the hands of a determined Limit Hold'em player wanting to evaluate and improve his game, this book will likely prove itself rewarding and useful. On the flipside, it must be said that for anyone else it serves little purpose.
How Good Is Your Limit Hold'em? consists of seven parts, including (1) Introduction; (2) Online Play; (3) How to Use This Book; (3) The Hands; (4) Odds Table; (5) Glossary; and (6) Further Reading. The bulk of the book is found in "The Hands" section which makes up 156 of the total 191 pages and contains the seventh section, "Evaluation."
This book reads 191 pages in total.
