The 2011 WSOP Main Event is not just a tournament to Cedric Annen it’s a once-in-a-life-time experience.

The 42-year-old from Grand Lancy, Switzerland, was one of the lucky players to qualify for the tournament on

“It’s a dream come true for me,” he said. “I wanted to go to Vegas and I wanted to play the Main Event. I’ve done both of those now.”

Annen has played five-card draw for most of his life but he only got into No-Limit Hold’em recently when saw an episode of the World Poker Tour broadcast in French.

“I like playing and I like to gamble,” he said. “I love No-Limit Hold’em.”

He’s been playing live tournaments over the last year but nothing could have prepared him for the 6,865-player monstrosity that is this year’s Main Event.

“I’ve played little tournaments before but here… I have to keep myself from getting too excited,” he said. “I couldn’t sleep the night after Day 1.”

Annen hasn’t just played the 2011 Main Event, he’s dominated. He built a stack of over 150,000 chips on Day 1, which made him one of the top 10 chip leaders on that starting day. He continued that strong play today on Day 2a.

The final table is still 9 days away from being set but Annen would make history if he miraculously made his way there. No Swiss player has ever made the final table of the Main Event.

Surprisingly Annen only had to win a 14-player Sit & Go on PartyPoker to book his seat in the Main Event.
