Hola Spain!: EPT Barcelona begins Wednesday
One of the most popular and scenic stops on PokerStars' European Poker Tour will start Wednesday, with all eyes upon the Spanish city of Barcelona.
The €8,000+€250 tournament marks the first stop of the EPT's eagerly anticipated Season 5, and promises to be one of the most well-attended events of the entire year.
Last year Sander Lyloff outlasted 541 players only to face a heads-up battle with good friend and poker tour roommate Mark Teltscher. In the end Lyloff triumphed over his good buddy and took down $1.6 million.
Because the WPT decided to pull their TV coverage of their own Spanish event this year, EPT Barcelona is the crown jewel of the Spanish poker world.
Those attending the Barcelona event will be treated to a special bonus at the very first EPT awards, which will honor the very best of European card-floppers. The nominees for various categories include Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Trond Erik Eidsvig, Julian Thew, Mike McDonald and Annette Obrestad, among others.
Taking place at the prestigious Casino Barcelona, this year's edition of EPT Barcelona will run Sept. 10-14, with the EPT awards scheduled for Sept. 9.
Already confirmed to be playing in EPT Barcelona are Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso, Chad Brown, Greg Raymer, Alex Kravchenko, William Thorson, Katja Thater, Luca Pagano, Dario Minieri, Vicky Coren, Noah Boeken and Noah Boeken.
True to form, PokerListings will be on the scene, bringing you the latest action in glorious colour.
If you're looking to one day join the elite crowd of Team PokerStars pros, the best way is to sign up for an account today. To learn more about the site, check out PL.com's complete room review for updated information and sign-up bonuses.
