Harsh Weekend for Hastings, Sahamies
The high-flying Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies and Brian “$tinger 88” Hastings were shot down this weekend with $200k in losses each.
Sahamies had been on a serious hot streak over the last few weeks but that appears to be over as he recorded 1,540 hands of $50/$100 Six-Max and Heads-up PLO and was severely thrashed in both games.
The Finn got into serious trouble, however, playing Benny “toweliestar” Spindler heads-up. When the dust had settled Sahamies was down $216k while toweliestar had rocketed to the top of the online charts $306k in profit.
Sahamies is still up $676k playing online poker in 2011 but he was up well over $800k at the start of last week.
Meanwhile Hastings, who recently moved to Vancouver to play online poker, got into trouble playing Rafi “refaelamit” Amit at $50/$100 heads-up.
Amit was last week’s biggest winner and he had no problem perforating Hastings for $126k. Apparently Hastings hadn’t had enough as he went on to lose $80k in the other games that were going.
Hastings finished his night down a total of $210k. Since re-starting his online account in Vancouver, Hastings has had trouble finding consistency but he still holds a profit of $114k in 2011.
The big winner of the night was of course German Benny “toweliestar” Spindler. An established online cash game shark, Spindler has some notable tournament wins including the SCOOP $25k Heads-Up tournament for $360k and a third place in the 2009 PCA for $1 million.
Spindler has been flying under the radar this year but is suddenly up $368k on PokerStars, good enough to crack the top 30 earners list.
Other notable winners last night included former pro Warcraft 3 player Davin “mTw-DaviN” Georgi who won $236k and PLO stud Rafi Amit who took down $126k.
Rounding out the top five winners were L0ve2playU (+$131k) and 0Human0 (+$130k).
Joining Sahamies and Hastings on the losing side were insyder19 (-$102k), kevinnok (-$83k) and minoppss (-$81k).
