Harrah's to build new casinos in Europe
By Lianne Elias
World Series of Poker (WSOP) owner, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., has announced it will be expanding its brand on the European mainland with the development of a Caesars in Spain and an unnamed venue in Slovenia.
The world's biggest gaming firm will build its Spanish casino resort approximately 120 miles south of the nation's capital, Madrid. The complex will boast 850 luxury hotel rooms, a 50,000 square foot casino, a 3,000 seat theatre, a conference center, a 30,000 square foot spa, and a number of restaurants and bars.
The $700 million Slovenian complex will be located near the Italian border in a town called Nova Gorica. Harrah's will develop and manage the complex together with Slovenian firm Hit Group, which operates nine casinos across the nation. The two companies plan to develop a casino resort that includes an 800-1,200 room hotel, a 50,000 square foot casino, a 50,000 square foot convention area, and a 3,000 seat theatre.
